Hey Josh,
Having spent four years in Ponca City working contract at ConocoPhillips, I'd be willing to bet that your the same guy that sold me a 2002 HD Wide Glide. Well, in case you are, thanks, still got it and heading for southern CA, soonest. If I got the wrong guy, excuse me.
flounderlips, there are plenty of factors involved with each supercharger. Everyone will have different results... Those listed are what the manufacture provided.
And wtf Brutus? Random as hell!

I'm still debating which one for whenever i have the cash... do i want the badass whine of a supercharger? or do i want the sleeper style of turbo lag + massive HP/tq curve....
I'm still leaning towards the whine though

Fix't
Also for the OP's consideration
Hellion Single Turbo - 6psi 350 rwhp 10 psi 450-500 rwhp intercooled upgradeable 4,995$ (insert calculator)
As far as I know there is no "dual" turbo kit that Hellion makes for S197's

Gotcha! Should be getting fixed soon. STL will take care of it!
Thanks man!

Nice post - lot's of good info, but there are 2 things I would like to add in there for consideration.
1) CARB; state / safety / emissions inspections:
If you are concerned with emissions testing (living in the People's Republic of NJ, I am..):
---most of the superchargers are CARB certified and will work with factory or aftermarket cats
---most, if not all, of the turbo kits are not CARB certified; many require replacing the cats with a down- and/or up- pipe; of course, in some cases you can make it legal, but some kits leave no room at all for cats...
2) Warranty:
---some lower-boost SC kits, installed by dealer or other approved shop allow you to retain factory warranty
---any turbo kit will make your dealer run away crying like a 10 y/o girl.....
Either way, you probably beat most Ricers, Chryslers, and Chevys, so it's all good....
I've been going the long way of trying to find this information. Thank You man. This was great. Just bought my mustang a week ago and have already had intense discussion with friends over super vs turbo. Great post.
HMMMM i turbo charger really looks nice right now, instant hp and that wonderful blowoff valve noise!!! but then again a supercharger whine is just so addicting!!!

im at full boost by 3500 rpms thats with no boost controller and 3.90 gears ? how instant are you looking for ? once i drop my gears back down ( this week ) and add a electronic boost controller i should be at full boost by 27-2800 rpms

i finally figured that by the time i can afford my supercharger (probably winter of 2010) i wont be able to afford a forged block. i figure if i go with the basic kenne bell, i will stay in budget and get the HP i want (450-ish).
you spool very quickly which is awesome. I'm used to dealing with imports that dont spool for a while reaching fool boost by 2800 would be awesome! which turbo is that by the way? I've never heard one with that whine!! its like a symphony for the ears!

Reason: removed video; added a question
There are 2 superchargers that I have been pondering for a while....the ATI procharger, and the Edelbrock E-Force. I come from a 4 and 6 cylinder tubo background....and would love to go turbo. But an intercooled procharger seems very appealing....considering that it'd be easier when it comes to resale, and living in the communist state of California, it's hard to get a turbo kit ref'd.
Anybody here with an Edelbrock E-force? Or ATI procharger? What's your feedback? Again, the fact that you can intercool an ATI, and get the temps down is very tempting.
I really really like the E-force. and its the best and most complete kit out there IMO. It also seems to place less strain on the engine internals thanks to the science behind engineering it. its not "upside-down" like the other S/c's out there
It seems almost too good to be true. 466hp on ONLY 5lbs of boost. **Usually** in an ideal world, at 1 bar, or 14.7lbs, you double the N/A hp. For an example, with 300hp N/A and 8# of boost, you might yield 460ish hp if you're lucky. So to get 466 on 5#....that's really good. I wonder how much of that torque and efficiency is due to the long runners. Hmmmmm......anyone here have an E-force??
