Part of me wants to replace my Eaton with a Procharger (F1A I think it is) instead of a Twin Screw/roots type blower. . . Centrifugal superchargers make me happy in very. . . happy. . . places
If you race, I'd probably woulda gone with a turbo or centri. Not saying Twinscrews aren't great at the track(they def are), but TS's totally rock on the street. You get thrown into your seat right off the line and I like the fact I can get all that power without even breaking the speed limit :-P
But you could make and argument that turbo's and centri's get a lot better gas mileage on the road than TS's.
I'd ask youself where do you want the power, down low or up top.

PLstang seems to be doing pretty well racing with a twin-screw:

They are both great. Buy one you like and enjoy!
Twin screws give you a big block type feel because they give full boost instantly. Hairdryers have to spool up and kick in a little higher.

Quoting myself here...Then again..funny cars have superchargers...so forget what Isaid about them not being good drag cars. And yeah...PLStang has a pretty bada$$ drag car.

Get a twin screw if you're a big boy
Get a turbo(s) if you're a real man
If you want to scare people REALLY bad off the line, get a twin screw
if you want to surprise people at any time, get a turbo
Whichever you get you'll have alot of fun!
Evolution Performance has plenty of vids up of their TT GT500 as it runs 7's,8's, etc.

Keep in ming the fastest 05-06 justin burcham runs A procharger and I believe is now in the 7's so is his competitor with a turbo.
Yes but keep in mind that both of those cars are running Big Stuff or FAST engine management systems. They 're not stock computer cars. Neither is the Evolution performance car (the LS1 coil packs on the motor are a dead give away). I say this only to remind people tuning at that level with a single power adder like a Procharger or a large turbo gets a little difficult to say the least.
In other words the setups making that kind of power are not streetable, in the least. They have also cut a LOT of weight out of them (I believe Vinnies car is a 25-2 car now). None of them have interior. Some of them are running completely differnt rear suspension (Back halved, ladder barred).
In other words there are three parts to the drag racing equation. Weight, Power, Suspension don't assume that just because they are going low numbers it's all in the choice of power adder.
In fact I'd say it's completely opposite. Vinny and Justin run NMRA. NMRA has very few classses that allow a PD style blower. In fact depending on what class you run will be a BIG factor in what power adder you use. You don't want to run a turbo in SSO at NMRA as turbo's are Heavily penalized and limited in size allowed (Go figure it's the Procharger Super Street Outlaw class).
Anyway's just thought I'd add my .02 for what it's worth.
Heck next year I'm considering going to a turbo and moving to FAST on my car. It'll take it off the street for good, that's the down side.....not much going back after that.

I like that JB is not only running a procharger but nitours as well I love the combo nitrous to get you started and the procharger to keep it moving.
A lot of guys run Nitrous as a second power adder. The turbo guys will use it to spool their turbo's because they don't have enough motor to spool them fast enough at the line.
S/C guys use it to get more HP while cooling the charge air (The nitrous has a compound affect in this respect).

Kevin Fiscus...Outlaw Drag Radial World Record Holder
What does it take to be the world record holder in Outlaw Drag Radial? Well that’s what the newest record holder Kevin Fiscus has provided us with. Kevin and his 2002 Mustang went for the record during the first round of eliminations at the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals this past weekend at Bradenton Motorsports Park. The result was a 7.066 @ 202mph. Obviously it requires lots of testing and plenty of skill to put over 2500 horsepower to the ground on a radial tire and Fiscus has placed himself atop the food chain in the outlaw world.
Kevin and his crew that consists of his wife Linda and Jason Combs are sure to have put in tireless hours preparing the Mustang to its current state. Fiscus’ Mustang is a dual certified 25.2-25.5 car with chassis upgrades by Speedfab. Power is provided by a 454 cubic inch small block Ford Proline engine which receives massive amounts of boost from twin Precision GT4788 turbos. Engine management is provided through a Bigstuff 3 with a few key clicks from the Steve Petty. An AMS 1000 controls the boost while a MSD Digital 8 provided the spark. The Petty tuned monster is backed by a Neal Racing Powerglide and a custom converter from Neal Chance.
It requires much more than just the power to set records. The car has to hook consistently while maintaining control at speeds over 200mph. Kevin relies on components from Chris Alston Chassiswork’s for all the key pieces to the puzzle. The Mustang sports a Fab 9 rear along with double adjustable varishocks and struts.
Kevin’s world record pass consisted of a 1.27 sixty foot which he feels was with the back tires and continued suit to a 3.18 (330ft). The eighth mile time was a 4.678 @ 162mph. The real important numbers flashed up just 2.388 seconds later when the scoreboards flashed up the 7.066 @ 202mph to reset the world record. This pass has stirred up a lot of interest in who will be the first to break the six second barrier. Fellow drag radial racer Alex Vrettos is quoted as saying that he feels that the first person that gets back to the track is going to be the one as many cars are well capable of doing so. At this time there is prize money being assembled for the person who is the first in the sixes by promoter and racer Dave Hance of New York Motorsports.
Unfortunately Kevin had a bit of bad luck in the next round of competition when his car went into a huge wheel stand in which the car was all the way up on the parachute mount with all four wheels off the ground. Evident from the in car video Fiscus did an excellent piece of driving to keep the car under control. The return to earth was not so nice as the car continued down track spinning around several times and coming to rest against the retaining wall. Damage was costly but could have been much worse. The k-member and a-arms absorbed most of the impact along with damage to the oil pan, steering rack and tires. Kevin informed me that repairs are under way and they plan on being on the track December 20th to try and the first in the six second zone. We wish Kevin and crew the best of luck in there quest to sixes.
