Default C&L CAI Problems :(

Question to anyone. As of tonight, I swapped out my stock airbox for the C&L Racer CAI on my 2006 Auto Mustang GT. After installing my car seems to lag when I press the gas. It does not seem very responsive.

I'm a little worried.

Also, my emissions light is now on, on my dashboard.

Is this a temporary thing?

Thank you to anyone who could help! Really!

It has to be tuned. If you haven't, don't drive it because you're running lean.

I understand.

I will tune it tomorrow and follow up. As far as my emission light?

So thats what "running lean" means!

it means dont drive it til you get it tuned. either go to a local tuning shop or buy a tune from brenspeed/bamachips/evolution performance.

It means your car now has the Swine Flu and it's spewing out poison!

I kid I kid. If you have to drive it before you get a tune be very gentle, or just put the stock intake back on before you can get everything setup. (This is why I picked up the C&L street back in the day)

Any time you change the air flow to the engine you need to tune it.
Yes you need a tune and that will make a big difference depending who you get your tune from.

Thanks to everyone.

I tuned it this morning, 87 octane Brenspeed, damn it drives so much better. $hit yeah!

Very impressed with how responsive it feels now.

I know its early on, but....after driving it for 40 miles the LCD dash display is posting 22.4 mpg!

Thanks again to everyone for being so quick and kind.

You'll be even happier if you run a higher octane tune. Did you get like a 91 and 93 along with it?

I did. I plan putting a 93 Brenspeed octane tune in the morning. I hope for the best!

Does anyone know at what level of hp N/A the C&L Racer really benefits our cars? I plan to add long tubes and some Comp Stage II NSR Cams to my current N/A build, and if the C&L Racer will be better than my present Steeda CAI, I'll get one. Any opinions?
