You can get a compression tester at Autozone. You'd need to pull each plug to test one cylinder at a time. A leakdown test is a little more complex and requires the use of compressed air. That would be better left to a shop.

I never thought of this till now but can you prop the throttle blades open with fingers/screwdriver/etc while cranking the motor without damaging the fly by wire crap in the TB?
To get accurate compression test result the blades need to be wide open while cranking.

How can I tell if I have a compression problem on my stock 06 gt. What test can I do to find out?
What makes you think you may be having a compression issue?
I find it unlikely that any compression issue would be minor. Minor compression issues are usually because of very high mileage, weeping head gasket, valve/valve seat problems, etc. which is very unlikely for a S197. And if you had a compression loss because of a broken ring, hole in the piston, cracked head/block you probably would already know that.

I think you'd need to remove the harness from the throttle actuator motor (right side of TB).

When its above 65 degrees outside my car is so sluggish its not funny. My v6 solara could kick its ass. Talked to a mechanic and he said it sounds like I have a compression issue.

Technically a lack of compression problem would get better when it gets hotter. Components would expand ad clearances would tighten up, therefore more compression.
I hope your mechanic buddy doesn’t work on flat rate…..he will starve to death!
