Question SCT xCal3 Tune - Instructions?

I just got my SCT xCal3 tuner, but not sure how to use it. It comes with a CD-rom, but my computer's CD-rom drive isn't working. Does anyone have instructions they could share? Thanks.

You got a CD with it? Wow, I must have gotten ripped off. The enclosed instructions (pamphlet) leave a LOT to be desired.

Just installed the tune, but the car isn't running well. It's idling around 500 rpms and when I rev the engine with the AC on, the car cuts off because the rpms fall to 0. My only mod is a K&N CAI and this tune. What's going on??

Americanmuscle.com

They had me flash back to stock, then reflash to the custom tune, but still the same problem. Re-checking CAI for the 40th time to make sure there aren't any leaks. Just dropped a small plastic piece down into the engine somewhere, so now I get to spend the next hour hunting for that... Not having a good day here.

Check your MAF sensor to ensure you somehow didn't install backwards. It is possible on some intakes.

By backwards you mean upside down?

Yes... Just make sure the little square opening on the side is facing the air filter.

Do you have the hose from the CAI attached to the passenger valve cover?

Doesn't the xcal 3 model 3015 come with the three "strategy" "canned" tunes as well? If so I would try one of those while your waiting on an update from AM.

And after way too much time on this forum you should really just get a bama/brenspeed/tillman tune. I think you will be remarkably impressed. Have not heard too much good here lately about AM tune files.

stlwagon: There is a rubber hose that comes out of the left side of the air intake tube near where it connects to the throttle body. It connects to the left side of the engine. So I think the answer to your question is 'yes'.

baddger: I might do that to see if it helps. What makes bama/brenspeed/tillman so much better?

Sure sounds like you've got everything setup correctly. My guess is they've set up the tune for a different CAI. Simple fix but they'll need to redo the tune. Agree with Baddger, try the canned tune.
