Default Swapping the Long Tubes: Trading the Hookers for Kooks... Waste?

Hey all! I just crawled out of my grave and am back posting on AFN.

I noticed that marylandspeed.com sells the Kook's long tube header set WITH an Off-road H-pipe (needless to say, I squealed like a girl upon seeing this), and also offered jet-coating. So as of 15 minutes ago, I'm going to be switching to this set up this summer, rather then the Hookers Long tubes with my cut / expanded Pype's H-pipe set up.

I guess I'm just trying to justify throwing away $1339.00 Purchase...

There again, I just bought a new Alpine head unit that has no CD player abilities (without buying a $200.00 Disc changer).

Oh yeah, The H-pipe is on back order for 2-4 weeks (I'll be on vacation starting July 13th) and I jet coated the headers "Cherry Red" to match the Red Saleen lettering on the blower.... Hopefully this will be sharp?

I would give Rich a call at Radmustangs.com I got a way better deal and he has them in stock. You can`t trust them Hooker`s.

Well, the Jet coating was like what... $139.95 and the shipping was free. So Maryland Speed sells the Kooks + outofstock off-road H for $1,199.95

I can wait awhile... I'm still in Kuwait unfortunately.

I think Kooks are a better header than Hooker. Especially since they are stainless.

Then that is a great deal, do not forget to get the O2 extentions. Your going to love the Kook`s with the off road x pipe. The power will be noticeable for sure. Are you going to do the install yourself?

Eh, a set thats not "home made" and is a bit tighter fit. I had some leaks around where the collectors went into the H-pipe and on the center pipe of the H with my current set up, I never really cared.

I don't expect to gain much if anything, Just a better quality set up.

....Oh, and you're welcome.

Yeah, I'm going with the Off-road H-pipe though. I don't think there will be much gain going from Hooker Long Tube Headers to Kook's long tube headers... but I never know.

Yeah, I did the set last time by myself and it only took about 5-6 hours on the lift. I screwed up the Passenger side gasket and had to take it off again later. But it goes pretty easily... I can't recall removing the starter like most instructions swears by, But I did drop a motor mount on the Passenger side and dropped the steering shaft and unbolted the dipstick on the driver side.

I used the OEM stock gaskets which were easy to put on. I did remove the starter , I have an automatic trans though.
Thank you for your service out there. I really appreciate your service for our country. We sleep much better at night knowing brave soldiers like yourself are looking out for us. God Bless all you out there!

Maryland Speed is where I got my coated Kooks. They are an excellent dealer. They drop ship directly from the coater. I was very pleased with the quality when they arrived.

I would also have an additional bung welded in the left header before you have them jet-coated.
