Default Help to duplicate key + urgent request from Italy

hello to everyone.
here's my first question to ask of you.
I have only one key.
how do I proceed to get another key working?
I have a mustang gt 2005 / 2006, the key has a chip inside?
the key must be programmed?
or take a key blank to be cut and work directly?

thanks to all....

I went through this about 2 months ago. To my suprise the local hardware store carried the blank w/ the chip. They will format the chip from your vin number. Cost me $80. The dealer wanted close to $200!

Once you get the second key, buy a third and program it yourself. Then put it in a safe place. If you loose a key, you'll still have two keys to program a new third key.

OK, so I've added a few things to it. Check my Profile - too many to list here.

The hardware stores have the computer right there to program them.

Default RFID Keys

It is my understanding that you teach the car to accept the keys. Not program the RFID chips within the keys. If you have two keys, you can get the car into the learn mode following the procedure in the owners Manual. Then show the car which keys to accept. Same for the Keyless entry system. With only one key the dealer has to put the car into the key learn mode. They must be able to do that by plugging into the PCM with special software is my guess. So the trick is to get the car's computer into the learn mode. Guess I need to get on eBay for a couple Keys and FOBS while I still have my two originals in my possission. Sorry, I don't know of a trick to get the car into learn mode with only one key. I am sure Ford made it hard to do as a security feature. Good luck.

Yes, I learned about the "learn mode" at the same time when I had to replace everything. BUT, the hardware store did not come out to my car. He cut it, asked for my vin number did some pushing of the buttons on the computer then told me to go to the car to see if it started and it did. He used my original copy for cutting of the key only.

Not sure if stores in Italy have them but don't hurt to ask about it.

When buying replacement keyless entry remotes. DON'T GO THROUGH THE DEALER! Unless you want to pay more. When you buy the replacement remote online all over. The instructions tell you how to program it, "learn mode" The dealer will charge you for programing like it is a big deal.
