I have an 08 gt with a ford racing x pipe, flowmaster 40's, a k&n intake, and a sct tuner. The place i bought this from said not to choose k&n intake when tuning the car. He said it runs too lean. Well my car seems to be losing a lil power since putting the intake on. What should i do? Should i select K&n anyways or??? Thanks!!!
k&n backs there product, so says there site. anyway cant you fix that problem with the SCT

You should have a custom tune made for your car for the exact modifications that you have. Your power will return, and surpass what you had at stock. Most places that you buy the tuners from do custom tunes. They all do them differently, so you kind of have to ask around. Brenspeed have some good ones.
i have the tune set for 91 octane (which im running) and the stock air box is selected i didnt change anything at all on the tune besides the 91 octane performance. About 3 days after putting the tune on i put the k&n on and noticed nothing, it seems to chirp the tires less at wot (its an auto) maybe because its 90+ degrees out now?
Correct me if I'm wrong.
You originally selected the stock air intake in your SCT tuner when that intake was installed, you later installed a K&N CAI, and continued using the stock intake selection in your SCT tuner.
If that's correct, then select the K&N CAI in your tuner. If it's not available, then check the car's performance when the ambient temps cool down. Hot ambient temps definitely reduce the S197 GT engine's power output, and also makes it harder to burn rubber due to the tires and road surface getting stickier.

I don't understand why he would say not to select the K and N when it is an option on the tune. If anything you may be running lean by selecting the stock airbox. I would reinstall the tune and select the K and N and see how it runs or if you get any codes.

Firstly, there are two K&N CAI's. One that requires a tune and one that does not. If you purchased the one that requires a tune and only installed a 91 octane tune, then yes; your car is running lean, probably running like crap, and I don't suggest you get on it at WOT with the engine running lean.
If the CAI you got from K&N is the one that does NOT require a tune, then you installed the correct tune. Check the entire CAI for any leaks and make sure the plug from the MAF is clipped in properly.

Like said before, the CAI u have really dictates what the solution to ur problem is.

Ill try putting the k&n tune in, the guy i bought the tuner and intake from said NOT to. He said by selecting the K&n tune it would make the car run lean so leave it as the stock airbox.

Did you get a K&N drop in filter? Your tuner doesn't know what he's talking about.
