I have a 2006 Mustang GT (bought it early last month) with the auto
tranny. The auto shifter has D (4th gear/5th gear, depending if OD if on or off)), 3 (3rd gear), 2 (2nd gear), and 1 (!st gear). Is it alright to up shift and down shift manually on the A/T 2005-2009 Mustangs? If yes, how responsive is the
tranny going up and down gears after you manually shift the shifter? I used to own a 1992 LX 5.0L with the AOD
tranny and you could shift up and down manually, but the the stock AOD
tranny was very slow shifting. I eventually had a performance AOD shift kit (I think the company that made the kit was Bauman) installed in the
tranny's value body that tighen the shifts and made the shifts between gears very quick and responsive to the shifter. Are there simular performance shift kits available for the A/T 2005-2009 mustangs, or are they not needed with these new auto transmissions. I'm sure the transmissions between the 5.0L mustangs of the 80s and 90s and the transmissions of the 2005-2009 mustangs are completely different animals and like comparing apples to oranges. Thanks.
