Default 2006 Mustang GT-CAI K&N and C&L

So I have tried both K&N and C&L racer. Both tuned by brenspeed and Bama. I also have a tune from brenspeed for the stock airbox.

With stock airbox and 87 tune I feel real force in the seat and great overall performance but not with the CAI's 87 and 93 tunes.

Seems like I am loosing a good 15% power when I use the CAI +tune vs brenspeeds tune for stock setup.

I love the sound the CAI gives me but not the performance.

The only benefit I am seeing from the CAI is better sound and a little better WOT.

Does all this sound right? anyone else try a tune for an all stock setup?

The K&N(FIPK). Was told that the racer was Ok for stock. They both performed the same. Seems like a stock with a little more grunt sound but almost no performance gains with the tunes.

Infact they both bogged in any throttle under WOT, so infact I guess they hurt performance more than any gains

Give Chris a call at Tillmans tomorrow and talk with him. Something doesn't sound right.

I got my tunes with everything stock from Bama. It made huge difference but when I got my intake it was alot quicker. I could tell the difference. I got a JLT but I am sure they can't be that much different. Something must not be right.

just took it for another spin. If I am at a stop and hit the gas aggressively its OK until i start to cruise then it laggs, boggs and sucks under any kind of acceleration. It didn't do this with the stock air box + tune. I don't know I may go to tillmans but 2 great tuners and I get this?

Brenspeed made a great tune for the stock box

Is my problem the CAI? Tune? or could something in my engine not like the extra air?

Did you change the tune to accommodate the C+L intake?? There's a rather large difference in the diameter (hence increase in air flow) between the K+N and the C+L. Sounds like it's running lean if you didn't change the tune when you swapped out the intake. All the major tuners should make a nice difference in the way your car runs after a swap like that.

Is your car an automatic? and yes I think its in the tune.

Yes, I have tunes for both intakes and am using the right ones

Yes its an auto. Will try to call brenspeed when they gat back. If I am not satisfied I will try tillmans

My C&L and Bama tune works great. My canned Diablo tune felt good too until about 5200 rpm and then it ran out of power. After the Bama tune, my car peaked at 305 to the wheels and held it from 5600 to 6300.
