Default Help Me Help Us/ Flow Numbers

I’m trying to put together a chart containing the flow numbers for ported three valve heads be it by Livernois, FoxLake, Sutton, JDM, etc. Pretty much every shop that ports heads. It would be nice to have cfm flow at 28 inches of water from .100-.600 lift (a complete chart), not just a maximum port flow number. Please note if the porting was CNC or hand ported. Please also note if bigger than stock valves were used.

I don’t know of every shop out there and I have not read every article. If you have any of this information or know where to get it by all means pass it off to me so I can put a master chart together. The more data the better. I am going to combine these charts with the cam spec chart I am putting together so its possible to quickly put combinations together and then make it available to everyone here.

So if you have any of this data, know where to get it, know of a shop that does head work, have an old magazine article with the data PLEASE help me help us by getting me the info so I can compile it.

thanks

What about AIR VELOCITY would it not be needed as well? I am only asking not tring to be a A hole. I also found no increase in power with oversized valves,WEIRD.

Jackpot! Good link, thanks. I see you noted that those are their claimed umbers. Ad that isn’t as good as independent testing, but I suppose it will have to do.

Thanks

So at this point I have #’s for
  • OEM heads unmolested
  • FoxLake
  • Livernois stage 3R?
  • TEA (Total Engine)
  • BBR

Only one more set of heads come to mind and that is the FFRP ones. I’m sure there are more than that though. Anyone have numbers for the FFRP heads? Any other companies?

Thanks a lot
Jason

Yeah, it would be nice to have that too but it’s probably impossible to get that data. I’ll bet some of the porters don’t have those figures for their own heads. And trying to make a mathematical model that also includes port velocity would be very, very hard.

The end result of what I am doing will not be the be all end all “magic” head/cam combo “picker” there are way too many variables. So many variables that even incredibly well funded race efforts can’t take them all into account and write a program that will kick out perfect designs/combinations. There will always be voodoo involved. I look at what I am doing as eliminating majority of the big variables and therefore by using it will get you a lot closer to ideal than other cam/head combo picking methods.

Recently I saw a post by someone saying that they picked their cams based on a lot of research……….which centered around talking to shops on the phone, asking questions in forums and probably reading magazines. That’s not anything close to “research”, that’s swinging at a piñata blindfolded…………..from 50 ft away. I am hoping to have something that will be a lot more good than bad.
