Default UPR "JLT Style" CAI anyone?

Anyone ever purchase and install this or hear of anyone that has? I ended up finding an SCT tuner for cheap and I was going to skip a CAI since when I get an SC or Turbo it will come with, but I'm itching to buy something cheap for the time being. I was thining about going with the JLT CAI since it seems to produce good numbers and is relatively cheap, but then I saw the advertisement for the UPR "JLT Style" CAI. They look almost identical and seem to have identical components. I am looking to spend as little as possible, but I don't want to buy something that's a POS and won't last at least a couple years or perform worth a darn.

Here's a link to the page if anyone is interested:

Yeah it does have some panache to it I'm wondering how well it works though... I can't seem to find one review of it despite numerous Google searches. I did notice one big difference between that and the JLT though: The UPR product is machined aluminum whereas the JLT is PVC. I'm surprised that is cheaper though...

It may run a little hotter than the plastic piece.

Yeah I'm debating whether that's worth another $30 though since it's only going to be short term. A lot of other CAI's use aluminum tubing don't they? Most of those seem to function pretty well...

I wish I could find some dynos or something somewhere, I hate to be the guinea pig

Aluminum is a great heat transfer-er

Most of the difference out of a tuner/intake combo come out of the tuner. If you can hold yourself back, just wait on it, maybe get something else.

My brother bought the JLT style intake from UPR, and has it on his '09 GT. Overall, it's a decent intake. It does rub on the power steering reservoir, and that's my one major complaint with it. Also, the heat shield only runs along the side of the filter, instead of wrapping around the back as well.

Thanks for that. It sounds like the JLT will be worth the extra $30, especially if I get it from some place like bamachips where I can get a few mail order tunes with it.
