When swapping a TR6060 6 speed out of a GT500 into a 2005 & up GT, do you use the throwout bearing from the GT trans. or the GT500 trans. or are they the same part ?
I believe its the same but this would be a good spot to upgrade from the stocker. My 1-2 shift at high rpms wants to grind a little if I shift hard. My stock throwout is probably leaking a little and does not have enough force to fully disengage the clutch. McLeod makes a very quality component that has held up for some of the local race crews around here.
I never thought to look at the aftermarket to see if they are the same part. Good call. The GT500 trans only has a couple thousand miles on it. Its out of a 2010 test mule. I picked up the Saleen Stage 3 Spec clutch that they use with the 6 speed so that just left the throwout bearing as the remaining variable. I think I will upgrade the bearing though.

Did you also get the crossmember, shifter and driveshaft? I have thought about doing the same someday down the road but I think I am going to stick with the 3650 for now. I need to look into a 26 spline input shaft upgrade, synchros and surface treatment for the gears.
RAM makes one too, look at american muscle it should be the lowest price and free shipping, or google it. I think oem, ram, and mcleod are the only options.
Yes, I got the crossmember & complete shifter aasy. minus the handle. I plan on running a 1 piece driveshaft so I didnt need the stock one. I was going to use it behind my 5.4 but plans got shifted when I offered Sqidd my car to mock up the prototype GT500 supercharger to 4.6 intake manifold & drive. He thinks the combo may surpass 450 HP at the wheels which is a lot of power for the 3650 to deal with. I am brutal on manual tranny's at the track & chances are I will break the 3650 on the 1st run when I pull the 1-2 shift. I DONT LIFT!
I now plan to pick up another body to put the 5.4 in but that could be a couple years from now so I might as well use the tranny since its sitting there.
I remember that thread now....as for the Ram throwout, I would probably stay away. Not that I have personally used this product. I actually have one of their clutches. PHP racing chewed threw several Ram units and has much better luck with the McLeod. Good luck on the 5.4 build!
I started Googling & cant find any complaints on the Ram unit & appears that the McLeod is a great piece provided you adjust it properly & use the correct fluid. Apparently you screw up the o-rings if you twist the unit to adjust it. The correct way is to unbolt it & turn the adjuster. I put that in here since that info may be of use to others who have heard the bad reviews on this piece.
