Default Performance flyweel - opinion request

Performance flyweel , does it improve anything ?
Mustang engine has quite big torque, is it worth to install performance flyweel ?

i dont have one on my 05, but I had one in my Capri (it was pretty built), The last clutch I out in it was a Zoom Kevlar deal and a SPEC billet steel flywheel.... man, just the sheer smoothness and the way the engine would rev after I installed, acceleration went up big time.... smooth engagement as well.... If you got the money do it.... One of the better clutch system upgrades to do....

Capri has smaller engine and lower torque, so lower mass flyweel improve acceleration. I wonder will it improve acceleration in V8 mustang.

It depends on what Capri he was talking about. In the states you could get a mid 80's Capri with the same 302cid V8 the Mustang got. I was making just south of 300 ft-lbs of torque from the factory.

Sorry but no experience with a performance flywheel.

I have a SPEC aluminum flywheel on mine. Hate it! Spins up quick but doesn't spin down very fast. Back to steel next time!

these cars, unless twin screw, do not have much torque, a steel flywheel is a good idea on these cars.

That's what I figured. Up until '78 the small Mercury Capri was sold in the States as well.

I have had the SPEC and McLeod on my own 2005 Mustangs. too light and the harmonics drove me insane.

EXEDY Racing Clutches has just released their new billet steel flywheel with a complete redesign and reduced moment of inertia and the damn thing rocks! We picked up 11rwhp from it and it has zero harmonics and raps up fast and still has a decent return. All this and its only 3lbs heavier than the aluminum versions. Its all the design and the MOI!!!

Shoot me an e-mail and I can get you images of the unit installed and even get you the best pricing!
