Hi - the past few weeks I've had problems starting my 2006 GT. The first two times it responded to jump starting, though it got increasingly more difficult. Yesterday I couldn't jump it at all. I took the battery out to AutoZone and they tested and charged it and it held a charge; immediately after putting it back in, I still couldn't start the car.
I'm fairly certain that the problem is somewhere with the starter (I've also noticed a faint whining sound after startup over the past month or so; this apparently is indicative of an unhealthy starter motor).
I tried to remove the starter today with no luck - there are several bolts attached to the car's housing but even after having loosened them it didn't feel like the starter could be moved at all.
Am I doing something wrong here? Everything I've found online seems to indicate taking out a starter should be no big deal, but maybe there's something specific to a more recent GT that is different.

Many thanks in advance.
There is a top bolt a bit tricky to get to. I used a very long extension and more extensions to get to it. I got to it from under the car , from the front of the motor . I think it could be done from the top also. This is probably what is stoping you from getting it out.

comeon guys its not that bad lol its easy to change it out. i think u have to drop mid pipe if im correct and then you have direct access to the starter. there is also a bar running behind the oil pan on the k member. it has 4 bolts i think. take that off and you get a bit more room
If the car will turn over it's probably not the starter, is the car a 5spd? If so can you push start it? This sounds more like a fuel delivery problem

I agree. Id check other stuff before taking off the starter. Does the motor turn at all? Is it difficult to start as in it turns slow or it cranks a while before it started?
