2006 Mustang GT. Heat Problems when stuck in traffic
Hi everybody...
If I wanna take off from a red light with wot, after being stuck in traffic for like 15min, I can hear the typical induction noise from the CAI, but the engine doesn't really respond...it seems it wants to, but just can't handle it! This is not just at very hot 100° days, it also occured at mild 75° yesterday. After driving not even a minute everthing's back to normal, after the airstream cools down the engine compartment!
I'm running a Steeda CAI with a 93Oct tune right now, for 1 1/2 years in the meantime. I already spoke to the Steeda guys, if something's wrong with the tune. They checked my PCM code and told me, I'm fine with my present tune.
Do some of you guys have a similar problem, or do you have any ideas or suggestions?? Thought about a new slotted (maybe carbon) hood??!
Thanks a lot, appreciate your help!!

Thanks, didn't know the heat soak has such strong effects...was just worried there might be something wrong with the MAF sensor or tune, etc...

Unfortunately there really isn't much you can do to eliminate it.
Another possible option is Ford Racing's Bullitt CAI, which is designed to pull in cooler air from the front of the car. Unfortunately, I believe the only way you can buy it is packaged with the FR tuner.
A vented hood isn't going to do you much good at all if the car is not moving. And carbon is the last thing you want to use. It will trap all the heat i the engine compartment. On racebikes we use carbon as heat shielding because it reflects/insulates so well.
