Default Will 2008 gt 500 mufflers fit 2006 gt

I have a chance to get a set of stock 2008 gt 500 mufflers and am wondering if they will fit a 2006 gt and are there any power gains and is the exhaust note any louder / better on a 4.6 gt anyone try this swap ?

I don't believe they will fit as the GT500 axlebacks are 3" and ours are 2.5"

When I check on ford racing site they offer axle back such as fms-m5230s and it says it will fit Ford 2007-2009 Shelby GT500 / Ford 2005-2009 Mustang GT so I am trying to figure out the exhaust pipe size any one know the pipe sizes?

Should be a perfect fit... I have the KR/FR500S mufflers on my Bullitt; 2-1/2" pipe size, like stock GT.

Dont expect power gains from any muffler. They are for sound.

With several dozen pair sold over the past couple years, GT500 mufflers will fit with no issues. They sound a little deeper and a performance gain is not really noticable...

If it is a standard GT500 and not a KR or Super Snake, the muffler is identical. There would be no power or sound gains. Just a heads up.

exhaust size on the GT500 and the GTs are the same 2.5". so yes they will fit!

get a special aftermarket muffler like Magnaflow, SLP, Flowmaster ect to get a more unique tone. You gain no power with any axleback on a GT.

I can pick up both mufflers and tips for $75 taken off a 08 gt 500 with 1500 miles on them I was just wondering if they are the same mufflers that are on my 06 Gt or will they be any improvement in exhaust note. I haven't seen them yet but are the chrome tips removable, Is there a ford racing part number for these mufflers. Thanks to everyone for the input

Yeah, I'd skip it and put the funds towards some flowmasters or other performance muffler

Flowmasters or other performance mufflers won't give you an improvement in performance. Changing out the mufflers is strictly a matter of personal choice for the sound, and everyone has their own personal preferance.

$75 is an unbeatable price. I don't see how you can go wrong. I suspect (but don't know for sure) that they are the FRPP #5230 GTA mufflers which will be a bit louder than stock and are the same as the Borla #11752. Borla also makes a "stinger" muffler #11750 which is FRPP #5230 5GT. The tips are not removable.
