My question is... I'd assume that adding 250hp to my car might require some other parts to be replaced with stronger/reinforced versions... I am not an auto engineer I don't want to be twisting and bending my car from all the added power
I am already planning on getting the ford racing handling pack (which I hear, is basically the Shelby GT suspension), and also getting some good, wider, summer tires, some Pirellis or something, before I do anything else.
Do you think I'll need to change the clutch, or anything like that too? This is way in the future.. I'm planning on the suspension/tires next year after the winter, and then the supercharger maybe the year after... but, I'd like to plan
Thanks for any help,
Dan

It's the motor that your going to be twisting and bending. Even Roush doesn't push the HP much beyond 435HP with the stock GT motor. Roush does have a new installation center where for a "slight" fee, they will up grade your motor to all forged internals and install that TVS blower, better clutch, fuel pump, injectors, bigger sway bar. My appointment is Monday morning!

You can run the kit on a stock car but you probably wont get the maximum performance out of your supercharger. Eventually you will want to upgrade your suspension. You should be good on your stock clutch and flywheel for the time being. Looking back I should have just left these stock until they wore out.
Do you plan on doing the install yourself? If not you should talk with a reputable speed shop. The ProCal that comes with the FRPP kit is not the greatest. Most tuners use either SCT or Diablo tunning products which wont be compatible with the ProCal. Not to mention it looks like you will be paying a little more just because Ford stamped their name to it and are providing the GT500 fuel pumps. Do a search for the Whipple HO kits and comapre prices some.

I have stock internals and been putting out 485rwhp for over 10,000 miles. I beat on it every chance I get. If he is uncomfortable with the power level he can always pull timing, add fuel or get a bigger pulley.
You will want to forge your rods, pistons and crankshaft which is expensive, or get a new shortblock which is also expensive.
I would and am going with the forged internals. Talking with the guys at Roush, the 540HP quoted for the new SC (2300 TVS) is actually more like 580-590HP at the crank, 525 at the wheels. Yes it's going to be expensive, do I need that much power, no. Is it going to be fun, yes!

I don't think so for a forged short block, new SC and all that goes with it. I'm sure if you really shopped around anyone could do better. My quote for the short block and SC/required other items was $11,800. It's when you start adding up all the other things not included in most kits that is where the money starts adding up. 4 1/2 days and I'm in and out. I'm too old feeling to lay on a cold concrete floor doing something I'm not really equiped to do. I changed a clutch in the dead of Winter, tarp on one side of the car so the snow didn't drift in but that was 40 years ago.

They are going to put a forged shortblock and the TVS blower on your car, tune it and everything so all you have to do is come pick it up for $11,800?
What are they doing about the fuel system?
Is the car blown right now?

Yes, I have the 427R which has the Eaton 90 blower on in it. They will change to the forged short block, go with the TVS 2300 SC, upgrade the clutch and sway bar. The installation costs $2,040 for the labor. The fuel system and everything else is part of the up-grade package. I'll get back in a week with all that goes into it. Yep, sounds expensive. Comes with the three year/36,000 mile warrenty also, what's that worth.
Happy motoring you all!
Do yourself a favor and look at these. If your hellbent on whipple than spend the money but here you get great names and cheaper prices whipple is an expensive name for nothing more than the competition offeres.
Not a big fan of roush prices except from AM or stage 3 and edelbrock is great.
get the whipple kit. get it from Lethal Performance, they have the best price on them, and Lethal's customer service is top notch!
no need to build the motor with the conservative tune provided by whipple. you'll be fine on the stock motor. suspenion components I would invest in LCAs and UCA for your s/c setup. no need for clutch either, stock clutch will hold up very well. I'm running 3 years on stock clutch, stock motor, I've beaten the hell out of it night and day and times at the track, 0 problems!
There is one more thing you should do when the supercharger is done. Find a good chassis shop and have frame connectors installed, you don`t want to be twisting the frame.
