Default 2006 Mustang GT Antifreeze smell running slightly warm

Ugh I need this right now. I noticed an antifreeze smell the last couple of days but though it must be from my husband’s Ford truck (he just had water pump issues). So since I only drive a mile or so to work I hadn't given it much thought.
Today his truck was gone, I get in and start her up and smell antifreeze again. I drove off and noticed that the temp gauge was straight up and down when it is usually between that line and the "C" line.
I drove back home popped the hood and bent over the front and couldn't smell anything. I went over to the passenger side can't see any leak but smell the antifreeze strong there. Behind where you put in the oil down by the valve covers.
I did a quick search here, but not sure what it is. Any ideas?? Suggestions?? Quick sure fire fixes? Or is this an issue for the dealership? I have warranty through my refinanced loan.
Thanks guys!

If you smell it inside you may have a leak in your heater core.

Sure it's fixable but it's not a simple job. Definitely not DIY.

Nice, at least it's covered under the warranty, I only have a 100.00 deductable.
What kind of damage can I do If I drive normal until I can get her in? Should I just park her until then?

Do you feel any wetness on your carpet, on the drivers side? If so.. and that is where you would notice the antifreeze smell. Then that is the heater core. When was the last time you changed the antifreeze?. You may want to check the thermostat also. The hose from the radiator should squeeze down after running , if not the thermostat is likely to be bad.

I have the same issue car seems fine, but after driving I open hood and can smell antifreeze. There is no leak evidence, just a strong smell right by the oil fill. I put it on stands and checked the underside of the block for external head gasket leak but found nothing. Took the car to a dealer and they pressurized the system and it held 20 LBS of pressure for 3 hours. They stated the smell was there but no leak found WTF? So, I will watch this thread and see if your problem is solved.

Check your antifreeze filler neck. Some of the overflow bottles had malformed bottles and the caps don't seal properly allowing antifreeze to escape when hot.

I'd get it checked. If it's something like a head gasket, you could do damage.

I don't think that's it. Nothing smells like antifreeze except antifreeze.

Crazy thing is I only have around 22,000 miles on her. I don't drive her long distances very often.
No, antifreeze has a distinct smell I'll have to call and get in her this week, ugh another thing to fret about, I hate leaving her with them

Where you taking it? Be glad you have that warranty because it might mess up those white heels.

It could have been bad right from the factory and just got to the point where it's noticeable now.
