Default 2005 Mustang GT Best Manual Transmissions

Im always planning well ahead of where my car is. In the future I wanna add a forged shortblock and more boost. I was worried about the transmission. I know alot of people are running 11s with the 3650 and it is surviving. What are my options for either upgrading and strengthening the 3650 or changing to a stronger transmission. If you have any companies that you know of that rebuild trannies with the good stuff please share. The other option I was looking at was the TR6060upgrade which I found for $4000 and includes everything needed for the swap including Pro 5.0 shifter and even the leather shifter boot. The only thing it does not include is a new clutch.

I got a built 3650 from Pro Motion good for 700hp for $1650. They also sell the 6060 conversion.

Thanks that was exactly what I was looking for! Figures a South Jersey guy is on the same page. Thats much better than the $4K for the 6060 swap. Question. Did you break your old 3650 or did you just add this to be proactive? I know the 6060 is gonna be better but Im basically wanting to make an around 600rwhp car and while I dont want to sacrifice quality, I am willing to use the cheaper alternative if it suits my needs.

If you call heavier, more expensive, harder to shift, creates more diveline HP loss and has an absolutely useless double overdrive gear better. Sure, its "better"

take your 3650 to a solid tranny shop. Most will have some upgrade kits or cryongenic, shot peening, surface enhancement or some other procees that will enhance your current tranny and save the mone and weight of 6060. Drive it 'till you destroy it!

Sqidd true about it being heavier and taking more power to turn. And as it is I only use 5th gear if Im on a highway. I just want a strong reliable tranny. I have no idea what shop in my area I would trust to rebuild my tranny. Thats why Im askin who others have used. Im trying to get a general idea of what kinda money I will need. There is always a possibility that I just say "f" it and get a GT500 and just add a Whipple and supporting fuel mods. But I really do like my car and I dont feel like starting at 60 months with a new car payment. ANyone else have any Tranmission shops that they recommend?

What do you want to do to with that 600 rear wheel? Have some goal in mind other than numbers on a dynosheet?

I didn't break mine, but I was having trouble power shifting into 2nd.
I got the 3650 with the 26 spline input shaft and some kind of special syncros, I think carbon fiber but I'm not shure.
The syncros and the input 10 spline input shaft are the weak link in the stock 3650.

I went with an upgraded TKO600. Everything is available to do the swap and it isn't to bad. The only thing I don't like is the Hurst shifter for the TKO.

I had BMR drive shaft loops and had to make a new front loop and modify the rear loop for clearence.

Eric Swarr makes a complete kit to do the swap and also makes a much better shifter than the Hurst.
