well looks like mph, who put the supercharger is gonna be using a built shortblock and we'll see if my heads are ok. hopefully so, and then i can just buy ported heads later. it'll be a few weeks before i can pay for it, but hopefully this setup lasts longer than 6 days..
Let me see if I got this straight...You are going back to the same shop that did the install on a product that blew your motor in 6 let me repeat because this is my concern six days? I would have a ton of questions before I ever went back. Not to mention want a huge price break. I don't know much about MPH and yes every engine various but 6 days without even beating on it WTF? There are countless guys running more power and beating the hell out of their stock internals.
its a manual transmission. and it was 465 rwhp.. as soon as i told my wife what happened, she asked why and i said i must've gotten unlucky as far as the motor goes. i know mph has done their share of the same exact setup and they run fine. i have also heard of people who had the same exact thing happen to them and they didnt get mph to do the work. they are working with me on the price of the block and the labor. it ran great while it did. and i did beat on it; just wasnt really beatin on it when it kaboomed. can anybody on here vouch for/share bad experiences with mph?
i guess because i read about them a few times in magazines and heard alot of good things about them, i never questioned them before. should i really consider going to a different shop? i dont have a truck or know anybody with a truck, so i gotta pay to get it to where ever i take it to get fixed. who else close to augusta/atlanta georgia is a reputable shop for building a shortblock and installing superchargers and tuning?
Sounds like something was off in the tune. Not enough fuel and Kaboom
What fuel system are you running? Boost a pump? Dual GT500 pumps?
I am concerned with the others about the 6 days. Plenty of people running your HP range and are doing just fine. Now I could see months down the road it finally let go...but 6 days tells me something went wrong.
i was running the kb boost-a-pump and the more i hear from yall, the more concerned i get. a few of yall have said to ask questions. what questions should i be asking. they really discounted the shortblock and the labor for me. i'm also stuck because i dont know of any other shops close by that i can get it towed to. please tell me what to ask/demand and i'll sure try it.. when i told them what happened, the first thing they said was bad motor, which confirmed my theory, but hearing from yall, i'm starting to think it could've been something else..
thanks for the link.. i just emailed the brookspeed website. they are a little over 4 hours away from me, but having just one other shop's input could really help me make a decision on what i wanna do with this situation. with around 8-9000 dollars, what should i be capable of.. i would love to move to a 5.0 or something bigger, but i JUST bought that supercharger and i wanna keep it.
It could be a bad block but my understanding and seeing what others are doing, I would have to say that it had to be the tune. I am running an Edelbrock Supercharger and have a friend who is running 11.5psi, 485rwhp and he has put well over 10,000 miles on the motor with stock internals. Getting a tune is the most important thing of all.
