to make a long story short, a rod managed to find its way outside of my poor stock block. (R.I.P.). it was a conservative tune, never over-revved it, always used the correct octane, so luck just wasnt on my side. i hope to find a long block because i'm not sure how much of my old block is usable. i know the supercharger is ok, so i need a block that it will fit on. i really want to get a forged 4.6l 3v longblock, but i cannot find one anywhere except Sean Hyland and its got things that i want, but cant afford right now. my price limit is in the $8000 range and i cant do the work myself. looks like labor for pullin a motor, puttin the S/C on the new block and installing the new block will run about $1800 labor. any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. and i dont REALLY need it right now. i have already found a backup car till this is done.
Check out the Aluminator Ford Racing short block. It might be ideal for your situation. Steeda has them with free shipping for $4395.00. Hopefully your heads are still OK so you might be able to reuse them. That will save you a ton if you can. If not the Aluminator, maybe check out Livernois. They put together a nice shortblock also. It is a little more than the Aluminator but I would consider it also.
Think there are quite a few short blocks with the forged internals, just make sure the kits include all the new bolts and such, those get expensive. I'm having mine replaced this week right here at Roush. New short block, new TSV 2300 blower, upgraded clutch and sway bar. They're charging just over $2k for the install, be done Friday!

Speaking from experience, you will probably be better off getting a complete used motor.(from 1,500- 3,000) then, sell the old heads and all other accessories.

No more Nitrous all motor now.Don't ask.
Some options for you.
Roush - Same as used on P51 Stang $4600
FRPP Aluminator - Same basic 03-04 Cobra internals in a newer aluminum block $4300
Livernois - Have a 1000hp 298 shortblock for $4900
These 3 above and the Sean Hyland are the ones I like the most. Like you I really like the Sean hyland complete 3V race engine. You can buy it with everything except accessories! But the above can save you some coin over the expensive Sean Hyland. Im planning on one of these in the future. Hopefully not too soon though. SOrry to hear about your bad luck. But in the end you will have a forged bottom end. So you have arrived at the hump. Make it over and head downhill.
Good luck!

There are a bunch of companies that sell Mod longblocks. Pick up a 5.0 magazine and look through it, you will find all kinds of ads. There are shops in Florida and Alabama that can take care of your needs. However, as mentioned earlier your heads are most likely just fine. You could probably get away with a built shortblock and reuse your stock heads. Make sure that you use a good shop to do the work. Most of the places that sell our motors also install them and have dyno tuning capabilities, to ensure you don't granade your new block. Good luck

i'm thinking the heads are probably ok. the rod shot out the side, but my concern is the possibility that if i pay someone to switch all my old parts to a new shortblock, the labor could come close to just buying a nice longblock. and then, if i pay them to take it apart and there IS a problem with the heads, i just wasted alot of money. if i go shortblock, i'll probably go with the livernois block. i got a huge stack of mustang magazines. i'm gonna look thru some right now and see if i cant find some built longblocks in there. and also, i was planning on EVENTUALLY buying everything that comes on that sean hyland block. so if i can afford to wait, and save, im thinkin its worth the $.
does anybody have anything to say about BBR blocks? i've been told to stay away from their cams, but never heard anything about their shorblocks. they got the lowest prices i've found so far
well looks like mph, who put the supercharger is gonna be using a built shortblock and we'll see if my heads are ok. hopefully so, and then i can just buy ported heads later. it'll be a few weeks before i can pay for it, but hopefully this setup lasts longer than 6 days..

Stage 3 here in Phoenix is awesome to deal with, maybe the motors at the link below can help you!
i was running 465 horsepower on a 8-9.5 psi pulley. and i think i got the motor problem figured out. now my issue is how much torque can i run on the stock transmission if i never go to the track or drag race. i hope to eventually get about 600hp. what would be the best route transmission wise?
