I had one in a manual ranger, neat setup.
You would park the car in neutral, set parking brake and remove the key. The truck would stay running with the key removed! and once you got out and shut the door it would lock the doors and shut the truck off.
By this means the remote starter knew the truck was in neutral, if you opened the doors before again without the engine running the remote start was disabled. To start the truck press remote button, unlock doors, turn key to run, drive away.
I had it installed by an aftermarket dealer in MI for apx 250$ cant remember the brand name of the starter, something like northern or Alaskan....something to do with cold weather though??????????? |
