Default 2007 Mustang GT. Remote Start on Manual Trans

I have an 07 mustang gt and went to best buy to get my viper 5901 alarm installed and the alarm has remote start capabilities so they looked up the module they needed and I found out later when they called that they couldnt do the remote start due to liability reasons since my car didnt have a neutral safety switch that way I couldnt turn the remote start on while it was in gear which makes sense. So my question is where can I get this neutral safety switch and what kind of shop would install it. Ive never heard of it and I know I can get the remote start installed without it but I would like to be safe and have the safety feature installed. Thx in advance

the neutral safety switch was in earlier mustangs but was discontinued in the mustang in 94 i believe. Remote start just wont work with a manual trans. I had to remove mine when i did my 5 speed swap...

I've seen threads on here (or other forums?) about people making it work. But shops can't install it due to liability issues. You would have to make it yourself, from what I'm told.

There is no problem installing a remote start on a manual im just trying to find out if theres a neutral safety switch so is your here to post "You cant install remote start on a manual" please dont post lol. I know most shops wont install it because of liability issues but I can get it installed from a person under the table I just need the safety equipment.

05 Horse can you explain that plz? Is there another piece I need to buy for the installer from a store or website or is it just a way the installer needs to do it?

installer wont do it.

you need, 15-20 amp rocker switch with on off locations

14 Gage minimum AWG wire

connectors

electric tape

wire nuts

unplug the safety switch ( now called ss )
cut the hot wire to it ( use a test light to determine hot wire )

now add wire from the top of the cut through the dash or console, or even just up to under the steering wheel... in to the rocker switch, then back down to the other wire, cut the other wire and tap in. then wire the connector back on. wire nut or fuse together and tape up then plug back in.

when the switch is flipped the car will sense that the switch is in

as soon as you get in flip the switch

it acts as if the clutch was in. remember, always use your brake, and a quick set of 2 tire chalks on a rope are a good call too!

and for heavens sake leave the car in N when you attempt to start it

Bypassing the neutral safety switch is not just a liability issue, it is actually illegal.

Lol its not that its just the face of having it installed on your car if you buy an alarm with the capability. Would probrably never use it but it never hurts to add Remote start to your mod list Especially in a manual. Never know you might have an itch to listen to your v8 while your on the couch watching football and all you have to do is reach in your pocket and hit the button and vroooomm your craving has been taken care of

ive had a remote start on my manual befor, it was an RX-8. The guy who installed it said that there was no sort of safety function (i dont know about mustangs though) i just had to be carefull to always leave my car in neutral, also after he installed the alarm my car would start without me pressing the clutch in, you could just turn the key and the car would start.
