The right rear brake on my 06 Mustang is making a dragging/ squealing noise very randomly. Sometimes it will start and continue for minutes, even after letting off the brakes, sometimes it will just do it when you apply the brakes and sometimes just hitting a bump will cause it.
Could it just be a bad caliper? Line?
I was just going to replace the caliper on that side, and pads and rotors on both, but i don't want to drop to cash and still have the problem.
Any thoughts or re-assurance would be appreciated.

Sounds like you just got intorduced to the wear indicator. How many miles since your last brake job? Just make sure you clean all the old brake dust and corrosion prior to applying anti-squeal grease.
you probably need to replace the pads, have you looked at them to see if they are worn down?

i had the same problem on my 06.. for some reason the rear brakes just wore very fast. theres nothing wrong, just cheap product. replace the pads and turn or replace your rotors, you'll be fine.
He should only need to turn the rotors if they are warped and replace if they are under spec. Your rear brakes are much more difficult to warp since they do not take as much abuse as your fronts. Not saying it can't happen but short of a mechanical failure or road racing, they should be fine from normal driving.
mine did the squeaky thing too. i bought drilled and slotted rotors and hawk pads for i also thought they worn or a warped rotor, but there was plenty of pad left, so it must of been a warped rotor (but on the back )non the less it was a good excuse to upgrade
It's called driving with your foot on the brake or an excessive amount of light braking.
The rears apply first under very light braking as the piston in the master cylinder starts to move, it then pushes the piston for the fronts, which then take over the "bulk" of the braking duty.
I know that under medium to hard braking the rears only do about 30%. After a 20 minute track session my rear rims are still pretty clean, the front are black.
from a topic i started. just a little fyi
