Default 2007 Mustang GT alternator issues

Ok, so im reading alot about guy who have stereos and alternator issues. I NEED HELP. i have 07 gt i started with a optima, 2800 watts of bench tested rockford amps. 2 boston g-5 12'' and all internals alpine/ boston, with stock alt and a 1.2 f cap. about 6 months cap blew. talked around and was told to get a kenetic 600 power cell. got that hooked it inplace of cap and about 3 months blew alt. everything is disconnected now and i put in a stock alt from dealer. War replacment. i have a vortech v3 with a butt load of bolt ons. basically what i was told now from PA performance is that the alt blew from trying too hard to charge both batteries and is to go with the 200 amp pa alt with wire upgrade, and install everything again. using a optima and a kenetic 600 in the trunk and i will be loud and proud. any imput. also what is the big three you guys keep talking about. what do i need why do i need it and where do i get it. thanks.

I think you have too much stereo, but that is just me.

The "BIG 3" is improving 3 cables:
-alternator to battery
-battery ground to chassis
-engine ground to chassis

You can read more about it here.

If that is Wrms, that is a lot of wattage for a DD.

You will probably need an alternator with an even larger output to support what you are trying to do.

But I would try what PA told you and do the BIG 3.

++++ On www.the12volt.com for info on your car audio/electronics needs.

And same as above you will keep frying alternators and killing batteries untill you upgrade your alternator with that kind of power if thats your RMS watts.

Also with that amount of power i would skip the 200A alt. and get a 250A or 300A. A good alt should only run about 350 bucks.

Watts divided by volts will give you amps. 2800 watts @ 14 vDC is 200 amps. Just for fun, to calculate the horsepower drain, it's 746 watts per horsepower. It works out to 3.75 HP to run the sound system.
