Default New to forum, having acceleration problems with 2005 Mustang GT

Hey everybody.
I bought a used 2005 GT about 2 years ago, it had only 8700 miles on it. Recently I have had some acceleration issues, mostly after driving interstate 70-80 mph. When I get to city driving after the interstate and I attempt to accelerate sometimes even moderately, the car will often cut out mid acceleration. This is happening on a regular basis now. Any idea on what could be causing this hesitation in acceleration? I don't think there is a custom tune or anything, but there is flowmster exhaust that was on the car at purchase. Help!

Welcome to the site and sorry to hear about the headaches. I never experienced this problem but sounds like something similar to what some of the other forum members have posted. This might help for starters.

Basically, you need to change the fuel pump assembly out. Make sure you get the updated one (Part #7R3Z-9H307-C).

The pump is under the driver's side rear seat. There's a huge rubber plug in the floor, and the pump is underneath that.

I had the same problem...

Turned out to be the spark plugs.

+2 on the fuel pump TSB, problems usually show up on the freeway or just after leaving it

+1 on the TSB. My 06 was built in early May of 06 and had to have the fuel pump changed out. Your description is a classic indication of the problem.

Only if he had plans down the road that required it.

Default Thanks for the advise

I appreciate the good advise. I was thinking about the plugs being the culprit, but a potential fuel pump issue seems like a daunting task for me. I have read about the horror stories of changing plugs too. Also, I don't think there are any mods, but is there any way to check for this? There are many aftermarket parts on the car, Flowmaster exhaust, and some interior dress up components. Bought the car from auction, so I don't know much about it's history.

Hi and welcome to the forums! Were like almost neighbors

+3 on the fuel pump TSB. Changing out the fuel pump isn't a big deal. If you want to save the cash and learn to DIY I will be more than happy to help. Just shoot me out a PM.
