Default Part numbers needed for engine main studs

I am building an aluminum block forged motor. 281 3v of course. I have searched many parts sites and cannot find ARP main studs or crossbolts for the 3v. Anyone have ARP part numbers for these? I'm guessing we are supposed to use some other parts for the 3v, but have no guidance on which ones. No help in the ARP catalog. Help!

Only thing I could come up with is the main studs.

ARP part# 256-5701.

This is info from another forum. I have no personal experience with them.

Here's part of another post I found... Not sure if they're the bolts you are referring to??

"You will also need 10 XF3Z-6345-AA Bolts - cross mounted main caps. These bolts are not included or available from ARP and are one time use. They are very expensive - $11 ea. To make matters worse to do the job correctly you need 2 complete sets - 20 bolts total. One set will be used to bore/hone the block as the main caps must be installed and torqued to spec. Once the bolts are removed you throw that set away. Now you will need another set for final assembly. Add $220 for those."

Good Luck with your build.

Thank you for the info. I'm ok with main studs now thanks. I refuse to believe that the crossbolts cannot be replaced with something else. I know MMR offers an option to replace them, but does not list them online. Anyone?

The ARP 256-5701 is what I used for the caps.
ARP does not offer the side bolts as previously stated. MMR offers a side bolt kit at a highly inflated price as do a couple other shops.

I used a grade 12.9 socket head cap screw with .200 thick washers I made myself. If you have any buddies that have a lathe or know someone that works in a machine shop the washers are simple job. I just made them from a piece of 1" cold roll. The bolts can be purchased from McMaster Carr for less than a buck a each and they can be re-used. I think they are M8 X 1.5 but am not sure without looking it up.

Thanks 10/05GT, that's the kind of information I'm looking for.

Side bolts are M9x1.25 30mm long grade 12.9. I got them from our fastener supplier at work. I believe you can get them from Fastenal or McMaster.

I have looked everywhere on Goggle for M9 bolts, which I believe are the correct diameter, since I tried M8 and M10 and they are wrong. Everyone has M8 and M10 but no M9. Any ideas?
