Thumbs up Spark plug removal on GT 3v Easy!! Look inside!!

well after all the risks i have seen and breaking spark plugs i attempted the removal of the spark plugs and i just followed the TSB from ford....and guess what? every single plug came out with absolutely NO trouble....none whatsoever!

heres what i did...

1. i unbolted all the coilpacks, turned them back and forth gently so they wouldnt stretch or ruin.....all of them came off nicely..

2. then i loosened the spark plugs 1 at a time, 1/8th of a turn.....then i sprayed liquid wrench inside the up a very small amount around the spark plugs...

3.then after about 10 minutes i removed the fluid from around the spark plug before i attempted removal so no fluid would get inside the cylinders, and if there was some it wasnt enough to do harm...(you can removed excess with towel, or papertowel, or vacuum.)

4.gently removed them 1/4 turn at a time with steady pressure NO JERKING BACK AND FORTH! some squeaked a little but mostly no sounds at all...

5.then i celebrated and cracked a carona and a shot of JD and had some fun!!!

6.then i got back to work with a smile on my face and installed my new autolite HT1 plugs!!

7.gonna drive around and be soooo happy!!!

there you have it...very easy....follow instructions and have common sense and its a breeze....maybe take 1 hour...well worth it!!

Good job! Just be aware that the HT1s are the exact same design and made by the same company as the OEM plugs.

It'll certainly lower the lifespan.

You might want to watch out with the royal purple oil in the engine. I ran it in my 08 and it always made valvetrain noise. Switched back to Mobile 1 and it went away. And yes, I was using the correct 5w-20.

Geez, I thought these plugs were supposed to last 100K miles...isn't that what Ford advertises? I did enough plug pulling in the 60's and 70's, but I thought technology has improved since then.

They are supposed to last a long time.

The problem is that if you leave them in that long, they get stuck and break when you try to remove them.

But by then you're out of warranty and you own the problem.

Best to change them out early before they get stuck.
