Default Mustang GT High-Flow Cat Question

Looking to get high flow cats installed to free up a couple pony's and to make my exhaust louder. I have a set of Violators and was looking to just get an O/R pipe to increase the exhaust tone but I am to worried about it being to loud for a DD. Just curious about the instalation of high/flow cats. Am I able to just replace the stock cats with these? OR will I have to buy a new midpipe.. Thanks

It would be easier to replace the mid-pipe, Mike. SCT Tuner.

I have to disagree: any muffler shop could weld those up in a matter of minutes and that price is amazing! No need for bigger pipes, factory is 2 1/2". The only reason I see to replace a midpipe is when first switching to long tubes.

Agree... It's an easy swap. Would recommend spending the little extra $$ and get metallic substrate cats. Also, just be aware that you might need to have the rear O2 sensors disabled. Some h/f cats flow too fast for the sensors.

I added hi-flow cats to my O/R prochamber. These are the ones I got Catalytic Converters @ Last Call Racing - Mustang Exhaust - Mustang Performance Parts, the install was $95 and that included adding 02 sensor. It did quiet the exhaust a little, but it made it deeper and got rid of some of the raspiness at certain RPMS. Also I got back some of the low end tq I was missing with the O/R set-up. My tq increased by 5-7 lbs (depending on the run) over the o/r set-up.

I have those on my car. With the long tubes and the stock exhaust from the cats back it sounds good. Not too loud at normal driving speeds and has a nice rasp at wot. Dont know if they helped witht the hp department cause there were no cats on the car when I got it. I added them. I hoped they would quiet the exhaust a bit when I put them on, but it did not really do much to lower the sound level.

You can also get them with either metal or ceramic substrates. I called Pypes and the tech guy said the metal would hold up better
on the road courses where I play.

I have had them on the car for two years so far and they are ok. I put them on behind the Long tubes where the exhaust pipe angles back towards the middle of the car and the H portion is. Welded them in, no big deal. GA
