Any Suggestions? 2007 Mustang GT - Coolant question

I've just finished putting in the electric water pump. I had to drain the radiator completely.

I've got 2 gallons of the Gold motorcraft stuff. Can i just refill the radiator without flushing it first?

And i've searched through the threads and i can see some people use distilled water with no problems... some use tap water and other use deionized water.

Which is best??

And what if i want to use the purple ice stuff? Can someone guide me on what sort of mix i should use? I don't think i will need to much antifreeze since there's a fat chance of the water freezing over here!

Thanks!

A 50/50 mix of distilled water and antifreeze will be corrosion, freezing, AND boiling resistant. Pure water cools well and in some areas will never freeze. But it boils at 212 degrees farenheit and in really hot weather under flogging conditions, your car will probably reach that and all your coolant will boil out and you'll overheat. Read the bottle for the Purple Ice as I have never used it. But I would mix the water and Motorcraft Gold even or 60/40 at most.

How did the old fluid look when you drained it? I wouldn't bother with a flush unless you have higher miles or your old fluid was full of crap.

Straight water has the best heat dissipation properties. I would avoid tap water and recommend deionized water or distilled. Some of the guys on the forum have a little more experience running straight water and avoiding corrosion in an aluminum radiator. I'm sure they will add some suggestions. I live in Michigan and run a 50/50 mix.

50/50 is fine. Get the pre-mixed stuff if you can. One bottle of purple ice or redline water wetter will also help.
