I will be purchasing the Whipple SC,
FRPP/Whipple HO 2008-2009 Mustang GT 11psi Gen 2 Rotor Supercharger Kit by Ford Racing
At the bottom it talks about my 2008 GT having 16mm or 12mm plugs and that you can find out by looking at the coil engineering number. Short of pulling the dam plug, where is this coil engineering number and how can I confirm which plugs I have? I would have thought the plate under the hood or perhaps the door would have that info, but I don't see it.
Here is the text from the Whipple site,
Note: 2008 engines with late style 12MM spark plugs can be identified by coil engineering number 8L3E
Engines with early style 16mm "High Thread" design spark plugs can be identified by coil engineering number 3L3E part number. All 2009 engines use 12MM spark plugs
All spark plugs must be gapped from .032" to .035"
Why would Ford change something like this? 12mm must be better, if they stopped using the 16mm and 2009 Mustangs all have 12mm. But why?
Thanks,
Steve
