Default 2006 Mustang GT. Reinstalled X pipe and now I have an exhaust leak

I just reinstalled my o/r x. It is leaking where it bolts to the manifolds. I am thinking about sealing it with high temp RTV. Will this work?

make sure you didn't pinch the gasket. happened to me on my 97 gt.... don't silicone it, if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right in the first place.... if you did pinch the gasket, get a new one and be careful and get it on straight.... then if wrench down on that bad boy! if you can, get access to an air gun to make your life a lot easier!!!!

I had the same problems. I finally just had to weld it.

There is no gasket it's just a ball style clamp. I have readjusted it many times and still have the same leak. I always use an impact. I couldn't live without one...lol. I have thought about welding it but as much as I change my exhaust I dont like the idea of making it permanent.

i must be pretty lucky. when i installed my O/R X, after some miles i lost one of the nuts on the left side. drove it for a while, then got under to change the oil one day and noticed it. i put a new one on, then last fall i swapped my stock exhaust, drove all summer, then i put an O/R H on, all with hand tools and have never had a leak.

i better go knock on some wood.

i would re adjust, the silicone may make you think you fixed it, but my money would be on adjustment....

I have an offroad x also . Loosen up the midpide and the monifold connection nuts. Then gently place a floor jack under the X and raise up a little into position.Tighten the manifold nuts first (be sure to do evenly). Then retighten the midpipe. That usually works.i need to tighten mine again also, i have a small leak.

RTV sealant will destroy oxygen sensors. You probably can get by with a little donut gasket.

oh ok, how about checking the torque specs for the stock parts for that. and then going that route. and your air gun could be losing the touch, i know mine is... its old as DIRT...
