Default 2006 Mustang GT 3 valve motor to Shelby GT500 4 valve motor

Just like it says, swapping out the 3 valve for the 4 valve Shelby GT500 motor in my 06 GT... Need any insight about anything pertinent to this swap...

I have the FRPP crate motor and all the cooling hardware/hoses. I believe I need the GT500 ECU (computer)so I ordered one today. I have the GT500 fuelpump already and a dual BAP.

Was told that there might be an issue with the anti-lock brakes communicating with the ECU? Might need to do some re-pinning in the Smart Junction Box located behind the pass. kick panel for a few of these issues? Theres probably an issue with the A/C as well but I think it shouldnt be too bad.

So as I'm ready to get this project finished I just want to handle any operating and tuning issues that might come up now so as to not be pulling my hair outta my head when I turn the key!

Anything at all would be great!!!! Will post pics as the project goes. Thanx

probably a dumb question .... but what was wrong with the original engine? 06 seems pretty new.

Probably nothing. But the 06 GT engine is only good for around 450rwhp (but people are running more). That GT500 engine is a beast. With just a supercharger upgrade and fuel upgrade he can make 700 to the wheels. Those engines are strong and those heads breath better. Plus its a bigger engine to boot. The only downsize is they are heavy since they have an iron block and heaviers valvetrain.

Nothing at all! Just wanted more power and a build that not many people have. When we pulled it last week it put down 650 RWHP and 753 RWTRQ. I own a small speed shop in SW Fl. and do alot of S197 stuff and thought this would be a great swap! The other engine is built and runs execellent.

Why swap out a rather new motor, it's just all in needs/wants for more power. Wondering what blower that is, the Eaton 122? Hp rating? Cost estimate for the swap? Inquiring minds want to know!

I started with NOS, then a 2.3 whipple, then the S/C with NOS, then a 76mm turbo and now the 5.4 with a 3.4 Whipple

Well, that sure answered my questions! Really does sound like a beast now but I think you are out of the realm of most of us.

Dave good questions and I might of by now already answered most above and below. lol, as for the cost I havent finished all that quite yet. However I can say this: I will post this when finished I hope the car will finally be ready to start tomorrow. The blower is a Whipple 3.4, (PHRP is a whipple dealer) I personaly prefer it for many reasons over some of the competitors. The swap is another transformation this car has taken on as well for several reasons but the number 1 is my own self enjoyment to just be able to do it, drive it and race it. Now this car still has ALL accessories down to the shaker 1000 stereo. I have a Lentech 4r70w 3speed auto trans, full manual valve body with trans brake. I will also spray it with a small wet shot. Hp rating in the end should be 900+RW and well over 1000 TRQ. My wife drives a 2007 GT500 with the same build. Hers has MORE boost tho! 22psi lol!

As far as cost so far I can say this, it's been way cheaper to do it this way then build one up or buy some other companies crate engine. I'm not saying you cant get a better deal I'm saying for me this was the wa to go and get the biggest bang for the buck. Some guys want more for just the long block then I have in the whole motor so far with the crate motor and whipple S/C. So far I'm in about 20k
