So if yours does this (mine didn't, I even played a burned CD) take it in to the dealer. They should call the factory asssistance hotline and get the correct information. I think my Mustang was made last week (1/25) so the fix should be in during production, only time will tell. I plan on driving mine alot this weekend, so we'll see if the problem has been fixed.
This is great news if it's true, thanks for the info. When I take my stang in for the first oil change in 1 month, I probably won't be able to duplicate the skipping or bad CD reject errors at the dealer. Therefore what you're saying is to tell the dealer to call the "factory assistance hotline?" Do they know exactly what is causing the problem?

Thanks for your updates - much appreciated!

Hey guys, got my blk/blk GT 2 days ago, and the Shaker1000 system can read the CD-R's when the songs are in the file format, but not as .mp3 files. it skips every second. I hear that the problem might be caused by the brand of CD used. Anyone else hear this?

Default To all who get stupid answers from dealers.....

The problem is not w/ cd's being to thick, brand of cd's, wrong burn speed, etc. etc. etc. I have been in the radio/broadcast business for years. That is just an excuse given by dealers and salesman who have no idea what the problem is. It is a defective general design flaw in either the laser reflector or calibration. Since the problem has manifested in many players but not all, it seems to be a calibration error. This may be why they are asking for ones from your car back so they can get a good grip on the situation. Believe me, someone in the design and development has probably got his ass chewed hard.. someone in production has gotten canned... and the person in charge of requisitioning the product is probably sh$&@ bricks right now.

I have had my 05 GT for 2 months now and the skipping problem has become worse. Initially it would only skip a few times a week; now it is almost guaranteed that it will skip daily. How frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No problem, nothing an old Ford Senoir Master Tech wouldn't do for his fellow stang enthusiasts.:thumbsup

Default More on the Shaker 500 probs

Reading the threads on this topic, it looks like they may have died out. Not so fast there pard'. Picked up my '06 GT in late Nov. Burned an mp3 disk as soon as I got it, popped it in an played right out of the chute. Now 3 weeks and ~ 300 miles later I'm seeing the same problems reported in the '05s. "Bad Disk" mostly, haven't noticed skipping but... Played a store-bought CD without problem then loaded my mp3 and it worked. When I loaded a second mp3 the problems started. It now refuses most CD's and mp3's that I try. Have noticed that after it spits the "Bad Disk" out and I leave it in the slot, it will suck it back in after 30-45 secs. Usually will play it the second time (sometimes not, though). Until I stumbled on this thread, I thought I'd wacked the player. Will try the "reboot" route and see what effect that has as well as looking for the "skid marks" on the disk that some users are reporting.
Point is, not all the gremlins have been purged.
Outside of that, You can recognize me but the bit "stink" eating grin I now have.

My skipper 500 does the bad disk maybe every 3-6 months after is was "fixed". My solution for the problem is pretty simple.. If you hear the music stop and "bad disk" on the display, hit the "load" button as quickly as possible and it gulps the disk back and works perfectly for a while again. Kind of saying "not that fast, su**r" to the player..

Default Class Action on Shaker 500?

I've had it with this Shaker 500 deal. Is anyone out there aware that Delphi makes the Shaker 500 and they are currently under bankrupt protection along with being fined by the Securities Exchange Commission for reporting their WARRANTY LOSSES as retirement contributions to hide the loss of revenue from their investors? Doesn't sound good for us Shaker customers. My '05's CD player lasted one year and gave up the ghost. The second one didn't get off the dealership lot before it started skipping and spitting out "bad disks." I'm in the 2 week holding pattern (which is really one month or more) waiting on yet another unit. Sounds like good grounds for a class action lawsuit to me.
