Default Skipping CD Problem

In addition to calling the local Ford dealer about a skipping and studdering CD problem that I'm having with the Shaker 500 audio system in my 2005 Mustang GT, I also called the Ford customer service dept. in order to see if Ford had issued anything regarding this issue, i.e., replacing the initial factory CD player unit with one of a different design(I'm not keen on having my dashboard ripped apart just so the stock unit can be replaced with an identical unit that has been the same problem, thus requiring it to be ripped apart again, and again, and....), or redesigning the factory unit's electromagnetic shielding(mine seems to skip and studder a lot, but not always, whenever the position of the wireless accelerator pedal changes). However, I was told there is nothing in the works at this time.

But when I mentioned to the Ford rep that this appears to be a widespread problem as indicated in online forums, she highly recommended that every owner experiencing this problem should immediately call their dealer and report it, because the greater the number of complaints that are received regarding this problem, the quicker Ford will address it as being major snafu and take the necessary steps to properly correct it(different CD player, install electromagnetic shielding, etc.), instead of simply replacing the factory unit with an identical one which may have the same problem.

Thanks for looking into this - I have the skipping problem too. The problem with mine is that it's so sporadic (once every 2 days) that there's no way I could replicate it at the dealer, and they'd likely think nothing's wrong. At the first oil change I will however have it documented at least that there's a prob.

Hopefully a recall or TSB is issued soon!

I have the same problem with my shaker 500 as you do.Maybe before long they will put a recall on them, and for all of 2005 mustang owners they will upgrade the units to satisfy there customers . For if not for us they could not survive. But for now my dealer where I purchased my 05 is replacing the shaker 500,until things get better I'll just have to make do with changing out shaker systems. If I find out any good news I'll keep you posted.
