After driving on the German autobahn for the last few months, I have seen this hood "hop" on several occasions. I don't think it has anything to do with a weak latch or hinges, but may be more of a weakness in the center of the hood itself. With the looks of design it could tend to look a little weaker in the center...draw an imaginary cross on the hood and you'll see where the "hop" is coming from...make sense? Doing 90 to 140 several times, I got a little un-nerved at the sight of this hood jumping around...It's a tad bit scary...

Definately scary. I was trying to avoid the dealer until I knew a fix, but I think I'll be taking it in this week.

Nice and tight.......no movement at all when closed.Open I can wiggle the hell out it.

Well...Took a little cruise today..........took her up to 100...held it a mile or so...nothing ..no shake....awhile later.......doing about 45 had a rig blow past coming toward me, must have been doing 70 ...and the hood rattled like a flimsy tin can....and to get under my skin a little more I recieved another email response from the company thats going to make my new hood..I first contacted them in November and was told January they would start .....................heres that load of BULL their selling me now.

Dear James

Thank you for your interest in our products.
You are right I was supposed to have started with the 05 Mustangs by now.
The demand for part for 00-04 has sky rocketed ever since the 05 was introduced.
I guess people want to make their 00-04 look more aggressive against the newer body style.
Next, the 05 demand is at a very disappointed low, local dealers are not selling them well.
So for economic reasons we are still working on making new parts for the 00-04.
We only have a few more items to make and then we will call it quit and start on the 05.
Sorry for the delay but we must take care of these high demands now.

Best Regards,

My hood does the same thing, very scary. Has anyone had any luck at the dealer?

Dealing with the German Ford dealers here in Germany sucks. They like to jerk you around and not tell you anything...they are not a huge fan of Americans . If someone in the U.S. goes please let me know.

They finished putting on my stripes yesterday so they didn't have a chance to look at my hood. Next week I'll be taking it back in.

After I told the dealer about it. We walked over to a GT on the showroom floor, and lifted the driver's front corner of the hood. It did the same thing... BUT only on the driver's side, just like mine.

I smell a defect.

What?? Has this guy tried finding a GT on a dealers lot? I see a few, without the options I want. Even those sell within a week.
Maybe his hoods are not ready because he has been too busy smoking crack?

Are you guys all sure that you just didn't leave the bottle of oil under the hood like in the movie "Tommy boy"? Remember when they are driving down the highway and the hood flys up? Hehe, just kidding. I love that movie!

Actually, he may be telling the truth if his local dealers are trying to get rich off the '05. The biggest dealer where I live still has a $3K markup on every '05 Mustang (V6 and GT) and HUGE discounts on the '04's. The '05 cars continue to sit there. Good idea Mr. Sales Manager. :thumbsup
