They finished putting on my stripes yesterday so they didn't have a chance to look at my hood. Next week I'll be taking it back in.
After I told the dealer about it. We walked over to a GT on the showroom floor, and lifted the driver's front corner of the hood. It did the same thing... BUT only on the driver's side, just like mine.
I smell a defect.
Mine is the same way, the flex is only on the drivers side corner. I only have about 300 miles on her so far and have only had her up to about 80 so far (no hood flex seen there, but only had her there for a short time). I may bring her up to a higher speed this weekend assuming the weather holds out.
If you get an answer/resolution, please let us know.
Good new boys. I don't know what they did help the hood. I can now get it to 100 before the lift starts. I'm going to find out if they can hook me up with a little more tightening.
I personally find its the issue with teh front bumper design. Its to square and allows to much airflow to travel upwards once it hits the grill. I'm looking to come out with a new front bumper. I think if you can smooth out the transition from the front bumper up to the hood you might be able to elimate some of the hood lift. Otherwise you might need 4 hood pins.
A hood scoop wouldn't effect this isse. the problem I see is the updraft of air from the front fascia pushing up on the bottom up the hood. Air traveling over the top of the hood wouldn't effect this.
I don't have my 'stang yet, so I can't tell if this would work-- but what do you think about adding some form of airdam between the grille and the hood in the inside-front of the engine compartment? Or, if the rippling is due to the flexible nature of the alum. hood, what about welding cross members along the underside of the hood?

Finally happened going around 65 mph and hood flew open. The more the car has been driven the more the hood has been flexing. Ford needs to quit ignoring this problem befor they get a class action law suit.

Damn you ok? Maybe you need to be the one to start the law suit.

Cost? About $10 Summit Racing Hood Pins. Install, FREE! Took me about 45 minutes. Just go slow and measure carefully!
Dave...
Scary thought drilling into the hood, but I actually like the way it looks. Does this fix keep the hood from flexing AND flying off or just flying off with the flexing still being there?
