You should see my hood at 145MPH, it looks like a Hefty bag!!!! FLAP!FLAP!FLAP! Yes,Aluminum got the balance to 49/51,but at what expense? Aluminum hoods SUCK!
I can't recall where I saw them recently, but I rmember seeing pictures of some interesting scew-down billet hood pins that were almost flush mounted on the hood. Anyone know what I'm talking about and where they are from?

Steeda has some nice ones that dont have the wire hanging out to scratch up the paint. check out their webpage.

Hey all- Just got back from nice, warm, sunny, clean cars, no pot holes Lauderdale by the sea Fla., I went to Steeda 2x and saw their hoods and pins on some finished 2005 GT's. They looked sharp and well done. I've got a bug shield on mine and hit 90 2x and no movement. I know everyone out there hates that though.

Went to check out what they offer, but they look to be your basic "nipple clip" type set-ups.
The ones I'm talking about were flush mounted into the hood (it appeared) and looked to be screwed or twisted on somehow (almost like a shallow wing-nut disk type thing - hard to describe).
I wish I could remember where I saw them. I tried looking around a bit, but can't seem to find anything close.

Hell yes....We did a couple page thread at stangnet on it...I and several others have had a good scare from it.....someone mentioned that in a wind test in canada the hood peeled back at 150mph wind....Hood pins were recommended then and I do now.....once I get my new hood I will be installing hood pins for sure....but I'm not drilling the stock hood......heres a pic of a stock hood with pins for those interested....This is a real problem for sure.
If you were to chose to get pins I would recommend Ford racing parts stainless with coated cables.
Nice touch, even if not required, it's a very retro look.
Do you have Ford P# for the pins?
Stripes look great. Almost exactly as i'm planning on. I want a charcoal metalic to match the interior color.
Are your stripes painted or vinyl? If vinyl, who makes them?

I kick my butt every day for letting this go!
Hit the gas and find out bro!:thumbup BTW,with a flash program, they go 160,FYI
Haha, so you have had yrs up to 160? Man where do you live? I can't do that speed around here, too much traffic on the freeways.
What tune do you have? Is 160mph top speed in 5th at redline?
Regarding this thread, if I was going to knowingly speed above 100 mph at times, I would pin my hood period. I personally am more interested in launch than top speeds, and if the holes are not alodined in an aluminum hood, you will get rust. Also, dissimilar metals can promote corrosion so, know your faying seals. I have seen many a muscle car back in the day with corroded pins, worse than the pulley issue imo...
