Before i start checking for loose connections, anyone noticed that the stereo volume will fluctuate up and down. When i play mp3's the volume will start off fine then fade down really low after a few seconds, i have to crank it way up to hear it. it seems like it does it when im listening to the radio as well. The auto volume adjust is disabled so i know its not that. Ive been impressed with its sound but this is really annoying the hell out of me.
Hey, that sounds very odd. At first I assumed it was the auto. volume adjust, but you said you disabled it. My shaker 1000 will play my damned mp3 cds. It keeps on skipping!!! Any suggestions?
I read in the manual that there is a compression option that level’s the sound volume. I have that feature disabled and its still doing it. Now I have noticed on music where the song might have a spot with no beat it will raise the volume. When the beat comes back in its way to loud for a few seconds then levels back off again. I wonder if this is supposed to be some kind of feature to prevent speaker damage. What ever it is if you know of a way to disable it please tell me.
I guess I am lazy...but how do you turn the auto volume off??? I thought I read the whole book but must of missed that....thanks...does no good now though bc car is in shop but always good to know..Thanks!
I have this same problem. Sound fluctuates. Were you able to get the problem resolved? I'm on my second visit to the dealer today. They didn't hear the problem the first time I dropped it off.

Took it in, not sure if dealer heard the problem, but they warrantied it and ordered a new stereo. Getting it replaced next week. Good experience with the dealer.
Ha, so dealer went out of business before I could get my replacement stereo installed.
So new dealer wanted to go through whole process again. Finally got new stereo installed today, many weeks later, and volume still has same problem. Put in a cd, wait a minute, and the volume drops to barely audible. Turn up volume, volume gets louder, wait a few seconds, it dips down again.
So, turn the stereo off and then on, and WHOOM, it's loud as heck.
I'll be going back to the dealer. I guess next step is to check the amps, as someone posted elsewhere on this forum.
Also, going away for long weekend. Last time I did that, came home and the battery was dead. Dealer replaced it. I wonder if it'll happen again....
I'm going on my 4th replacement here, my current series b replacement was operating for 3 whole days before it just completely stopped working. The shaker is a pile of crap!http://www.allfordmustang.com/forums...humbs_down.gif

I had some skipping problems but mostly the shaker sub will shut down occasionally and then come back in sometimes. Maybe the amp overheatling for the sub as I would guess that the sub amp is part of the sub enclosur ein the trunk??

If you truely like good audio, don't worry about getting the shaker 1000. It's a waste of money. The way it is set up in the 2005 if horrible. It is loud, but you have no control over the subs. It is overwheleming. I had to unplu one of the 2 subs in the trunk and turn the bass way down. Since the purchase of my 05 GT, if have replaced all 4 speaker with boston acoustics. I changed the head unit for an eclipse head unit. The sound difference if HUGE!. I also just got sirius sat installed today. It's night and day what I have now compared to the shaker 1000. I still plan to get rid of the 2 subs in the back an replace it with a single high quality (JL) 10 inch sub.
Go to the Satellite Radio thread. We've beeen talking about stereos there. I post pics of my stereo.

Sounds to me like you have an amp turning on and off, not a problem with the front end. Impossible to be sure, but I'd have them look at the amp. Perhaps it has an "on" indicator light that they can check to see if it goes out after a few seconds?
Possible medium speed CAN (communication area network) this network communicates with other modules like the pcm, It lets the audio unit know the vehicle speed to adjusts the volume accordingly. I still think it the audio unit though.
