Yes, mine was factory installed. I can wave my arms in the car and the alarm goes off. The problem I had was my fault for not reading all of the instructions. I kept pressing the default reset button. Mine did not have the remote start cable installed, I donno if this is do to mine being a 5 speed stick or not. One problem I see though is our factory key fob does not have a button for the remote start. The alarm unit had a big old Ford emblem on it and it looks to be made by CodeAlarm/Audiovox. So I guess Ford just re-brands it. My alarm module was installed around the drivers side kick panel.
Can you clarify?
1) what button under the steering wheel? I have the active alarm and there is no button under the entire dash driver area except for the fuel pump reset. It is not like a factory to install a valet override/manual programming switch.
2) where exactly is this codealarm module you mentioned?
3) what is the 'default reset button'
4) what is the indicator light you are describing - again the factory system doesn't really have a seperate LED.
Ideally, if you could please snap some pix!
Thanks in advance for helping clarify. I have a feeling you were given an aftermarket alarm by the dealer perhaps? I don't ever see a vendor making a component (like the alarm, or the Gentex mirrors I installed) using their standard manual. It's such a low cost for their art departments that it just doesn't add up.
Thanks in advance!!

As soon as I get my camera back from my buddy I will snap some pics. As far as the dealer knew, they had no idea about it, I asked hey what this thing do? and they just assumed that it was part of the factory alarm. The module itself has a big ford logo on it and when I called the 800-ford-key number they asked for the part number off the box. The question they had is what does the part number start with. They told me that the ford systems all start with 2W7Z and after looking at mine I saw the number that started with that. I called back and gave them that number and they sent me those fax back sheets. The reset button was the unlock button on the keyfob. As for the light I will have to get that pic to. The light and override switch are both part of the same unit. It is a little piece that is on the dash (right below the steering wheel) the light (led) points toward the seat and there is a little push button switch behind the light.
Again as soon as I get my camera back I will get pics of the module and the light/button.The only dealer charge I had was for the aftermarket tint.

Well I looked up and down my car and can't find the LED or button you described Kind of weird that you have this - all the rest of you that viewed these instructions (and thread) did you find the button mentioned? If so - anyone wih a cam please take a pic!
I haven't had a chance to play, but according to my manual the procedure for adding remotes is to turn ignition key from pos 1 to pos 3 eight times ending on position 3. the car will then honk to indicate programming mode (or something similar - in the manual). Perhaps that will allow entry into the full programming mode.
Actually remote start will work with even a motorcycle if you know how to wire. Legally speaking (or at least ethically) installers should turn down requests for intalls into manual tranny cars for liability reasons. But technically there is no reason it won't work. You just need to override the clutch interlock switch by the pedal and of course as the owner make sure you leave it in neutral when you walk away.

On the thread topid: did anyone find this mysterious button/led combo?
Just finished installing the remote start/ vss/ security alarm system into my 2005 Mustang and everything works great except the shock sensor settings are set too high. The instructions were not clear. How do I raise the sensitivity for the lite-touch and full shock on this version Ford Power-code alarm???
Spoke to Ford tech today and they were very helpful. The module does not require it to be mounted vertically, just securely. I didn't understand what "shock" meant. Not bump but shock. After getting an explaination from Ford I went back and increased the sensitivity on both the lite-touch and full shock setting and bingo we're alarmed. Just tapping firmly on the glass sets off the lite touch. A good wrap on the glass set off the firestorm. Joy in Somerville. :0)
If you've got the Ford Code-Alarm keyless entry, remote start with vehicle security installation you can set the sensitivity by doing the following. (On your key fob there should be four buttons. Holding the fob verticle, the upper L/H button is called button #1. The upper R/H button is #2. The lower L/H button is #3. The R/H lower is #4.) Find your programming/override button. I mounted mine in a convienient spot just under the knee kick panel. It's just a small button with a red tip. Now, open the drivers door, insert your key and turn to the run position. Press and hold the programming button until you hear three chirps of the horn. You are now in the programming mode. Release the button and then press it again. You should now hear four chips. You are now in option bank #1 Press button #3 once - you should hear one chirp. This now puts you in the lite-touch shock sensor mode. By pressing the #1 button to increase sensitivity and the #2 button to decrease you can set the sensitivity to your liking. My suggestion is to hold the #2 button down until you hear the horn honk three times. this is now the lowest sensitivity setting. then press the #1 button to increase. (count the number of chirps that you increase to.) I would set it to 30 however, Ford told me there are actually 64 increments.) Remove the key and get out of the car. Set the alarm and tap on the glass with a key. Or kick the tire. This should make the car horn honk. If not then restart the process by re-entering the programming mode and the lite-touch mode and increase (button#1) 5 chirps. remove key and try the kick method again. Once your happy you should record the number of honks it took to get to your lite-touch setting. Now you should set your full shock setting. Reenter the programming mode and option bank #1 as above. Then press the #3 button , you'll now hear one chirp, press once more with two chirps. This is now the full-shock mode. Increase and decrease with buttons #1 and #2 same as above. My suggestion is to go to the lowest sensitivity first and work you way up. I would only set your full shock to about 15 to start. You should be able to give the car a good elbow wrap and set the firestorm off. Don't set this one to high or you'll get alot of false alarms. Remove the key and your done.
If you do not have remote start and just the standard alarm with keyless entry there is a different procedure to adjust the sensitivity. It involves the driver door lock switch.
For everyone else, the button is a figment of people's imagination (or it comes with an aftermarket alarm installation kit - even if one that's ford supplied). I totally went over my under dash area no button. I followed the eight ignition key cycling to enter FOB programming mode and that didn't allow for any feature programming to be entered. So - the button mus tonly come with the starter setup.
I really wanted to program some of these features in but I guess it won't happen. On a related note, there is really another sounder in the car when you get the active system. This second horn is a standard vibration style horn and is mounted INSIDE the body panels in the trunk / righr rear, behind the trunk liners.
Yes the alarm is purchasable in 3 levels, I believe, and you can have it installed after the fact. The benefits are a) factory warranty and no pointing fingers if electronics get cooked, b) lower price (most of the clifford etc are pretty pricy), c) the up down windows thing may work - I'd guess the down with remote, but not th eup down with key as that requires a different cylinder (although it may already be there).
Downside is that you get way less features than you can get aftermarket. For example clifford can add auto lights on dark or rain, remote adjustment of sensors, sensor shunt, silent or noisy arming/disarming, 2 way remotes with status indicators and much more. Search for an accessory page on the net for ford accessories they will likely list pricing for all the ford offerings.
The Ford Remote Start, Vehicle Security, Keyless entry system with the transponder bypass module will run around $300.00 without installation. It took me about 8 hours to install the entire thing. The Ford dealership isn't too wild on installing this accessory. They subcontract the whole alarm thing out to local installers and the subcontractors want to sell their product so they are not wild about the Ford product. Catch 22. I'm very satisfied with the Ford product (CodeAlarm) Powercode. It does'nt blow dry my hair for me or open the door for my wife but aside from that it does everything else. Ford tech support was pretty helpful and the dealership where I bought the parts gave me all the tech information to wire it up. Every wire was color coded exactly as the instructions indicated. When I finished the last wire, entered the few 2005 Mustang specific programming codes, the car remote started on the first shot. Very satisfied.
