I have never added an aftermarket hood to any car. I have done other things (grills, side skirts, spoilers, etc) but never a hood. I would not have thought twice about adding an aftermarket hood for my soon-to-be 2005 Mustang GT however, after reading your posts about the factory hood becoming flimsy or shaking or lifting at high speed, I began to get worried about adding any aftermarket hood figuring that an aftermarket hood would potentially be even more problematic than facory hoods.
1) What is all of your experiences with adding any aftermarket hoods to any car and is there one manufacturer or style of hoods that is better quality than another?
2) I attached a photo of each of the hoods I am considering. I think it might be a photo-chop. Does anyone offer either of these hoods for sale on the 2005 Mustang GT? Whether or not they do, does anyone have any idea on a price, who either does or might manufacture it, and most importantly, what about the quality of this particular hood?
Thanks!!!

I've been searching high and low for that Shelby style hood. No luck yet for I'm pretty sure the picture is a chop. I want to model my vert after the 68 Shelby with a new hood, side scoops, ducktail, and stripes. I'm figuring CDC will provide the scoops and possibly the ducktail, if they cutout for the third light, but the hood may become a custom project.
I'm very interested in that hood if anyone comes acrossed it. :thumbsup
Yes the pic is a chop...I contacted 4 companies that make hoods in november about making the hood ...2 never got back to me..one said passing it to the powers that be...abcexclusives told me they would make the hood and would start on producing parts for the 05 in January.
3 days ago I contacted them again asking why the site still says coming soon...and this is the response I got back this time...so I wait and.. will start E mailing other manufactures.
Dear James
Thank you for your interest in our products. You are right I was supposed to have started with the 05 Mustangs by now. The demand for part for 00-04 has sky rocketed ever since the 05 was introduced. I guess people want to make their 00-04 look more aggressive against the newer body style. Next, the 05 demand is at a very disappointed low, local dealers are not selling them well. So for economic reasons we are still working on making new parts for the 00-04. We only have a few more items to make and then we will call it quit and start on the 05. Sorry for the delay but we must take care of these high demands now.

As far as aftermarket hoods go, it is my experience you get what you pay for. If the price sounds to good to be true, it probably is. You will have fitment problems, lines will not match up or it could be warped (happed to me once).
Good luck on you on your hood shopping.

It's early. Someone will have to make one of those Shelby hoods, if it doesn't become a personal project... The key will be to build an intake casing that matches up with it.
I wish this was the standard hood. And the front body kit is so much better than the regular.
Yea, that does look schweet.. I figure with the new body now, they'll (Ford) will stick with it and only mod the front and rear over the years to come. I also think the 2005 model will become a collectors item in a class much like the early Mustangs from the 60's and up until the 70 Mach1/Boss.. IMHO things went down hill after 1970, but that's just me . With that type of hood and with the intake now directly in the front of the engine, it'll be so much eaiser to add forced air through the hood.
