My GT has a 9/22/04 build date and I've had the premature gas pump shut-off problem since day one. I brought it into the dealer and mentioned the TSB to my service tech. When I picked it up, I noticed the repair invoice is said “Not a Ford fix. Waiting for further instructions”. When I asked the Tech about the TSB, I was told that a special service message was sent out instructing them not to replace any more tanks, the fix was not working. I was also told Perry Ford had already replaced one tank and the problem still persisted. Is my tech just giving me a line of BS? Or is there any truth to this?

I work at a Ford dealer I haven't seen no ssm stating not to follow the tsb. I also just ran my vin number to check for any ssm.....none about not to follow tsb or any other message other then the TSB. If he called the Ford hotline maybe they have more recent information that hasn't been released yet. My Mustang was made Feb 2nd and I've yet to have any problems with filling the tank.

Thanks mustangtk, I figured I could count on your reply. You’re a great asset to this forum. Yesterday I called the ford hotline for the latest info. I expect a call back today or tomorrow.

According to the customer service rep on the Ford hotline, there is NO FIX for the slow fill / premature shutoff problem. Even though a TSB has been issued, they would not replace my tank. They suggested I stay in contact with my service tech until a new fix is issued.

"it filled perfectly, stopping at about $33(92 oct)..."
