Shaker 500 speaker question, if you have info please post

Went to the dealership last night to place order for the 05 GT. The question came up for the Shaker 500 or 1000. Well I am planning on installing a custom sound system so I took the plan 4 speaker system, because my thoughts was why put the extra money in the sound system if it's coming out.

THE QUESTION IS, where do they get 8 speakers from on the Shaker 500???? I know there are 2 -6 x 8's in the Doors, 2 - 8" woofers in the Doors and 2 - 6x8's in the rear deck area. So where is the other 2?????? Can some tell me this. I need to make sure there speaker locations for my custom system, I just did not need the 8" in the doors.

I wouldnt even opt for the 500 unless you plan on using the subs in the door. As for the 8 speakers, I can't help you. Unless there is an integrated mid / tweeter combination and they are counting that as 4. I got mine just base model and worked from there. I was never fond of subs in the door panels. They never sound right.

I am not sure of the size, but each front door as three speakers in it. The tweeter, the mid, and the sub, thats six, and then two in the rear deck! Hope that helps!

I plan to order a GT as well. I like a good stereo system, but $1200 extra is pricey. I'm 36 and I don't crank it as much as I used to. Is it really worth it for someone like me?

The Shaker systems are good systems and have very nice sound for a stock system. I am just an audiophile nut and like to customize the system to suit my taste. Ford did not design the system for all the add-ons. For a basic system if you are not going to add video, integrated i-pod, etc... In my opinion it is worth it. You might want to read the threads on the problems that the head units have been having, but from what I have heard, that problem is solved with the new units. The 500 or 1000 is up to you... Depend on how much bass you want.

ford.com specs list 6 speakers for the 500 and 8 for the 1000 with the extra two being in the sub box in the trunk.

4 in the doors 2 in the rear deck, I got the baseline model and am busy putting all my toys in order for install, just waiting on a new head to show up.

Try as I might my eyes just don't seem to be able to read these new fangled DVD's for some reason, and that antenna jack is mighty uncomfortable wedged in my ear!
