I brought a copy of TSB 05-4-8 to my dealer on 3/14/05. They acknowledged the existance of this TSB, but also informed me that the fix was not working in all cases. Therefore, they were instructed not to replace any more tanks. I figure there should be a SSM (Special Service Message) issued by Ford if this is indeed the case, but I have seen nothing. I did call the Ford hotline and got the same story from them (Known problem... No fix... even thought they've issued a TSB). If anyone has luck getting their tank replaced as suggested by the TSB, let us know.
My car is at the dealer now (3/18/05) and they just called saying it's ready for pick up. I'll let you know if replacing the gas tank works.
Hey Msgt46270, I called Mossy last week, and they have my fuel tank on order. Should be sometime in April. I had to convince the service rep it was an issue and Ford released the TSB, so after a few minutes of research, the rep ordered it.
Hopefully this fixes the problem, cause I've never once been able to fill up the entire gas tank w/o holding it 90CCW.

I just had my fuel tank replace today (3/18/05) at Perry Ford in National Caty, San Diego. There wasn't anything told to me about the SSM. My radio is the next thing to get replaced.
Find another dealer close to you that will replace it for you.
Dearborn, Michigan. You pull up to the fuel pump at the local gas station and begin fueling your 2005 Ford Mustang, however, it fills very slowly. The condition may be described as, repeated fuel pump shutoffs when filling the fuel tank. According to Ford, should this condition occur, the fuel tank needs to be replaced.
While Ford has told dealers to replace the fuel tanks, the dealer will only replace the fuel tanks upon customer request. Further, Ford will not notify owners of 2005 Ford Mustangs of this condition.
Your Ford or Lincoln-Mercury dealer will install fuel tank part number "5R3Z-9002-AA" under provisions of the new vehicle warranty and the Federal emissions warranty.
I just put gas in my car. It was doing great. The I stop to see what it would do and started fueling again. The problem was still there. As I posted ealier, turn the fuel handle to the right and you can fuel fine that way (fuel slow).

Wait a minute, are you saying you had the fuel tank replaced, and you're still having the same problem???
I had the same problem, only after I stop fueling and then started again. Then I turned the fuel handle to the right (side ways) and fueling was no problem then. Just don't stop fueling once you start.

That seems to be exactly what the dealer and the Ford hotline has been telling me. Some of the tank replacements are not completely successful. They want me to wait while "Engineers research the issue" and keep in contact with my service tech regarding a new fix.

Probably the same engineers who are researching how to get the heater to direct air to the floor, instead of the windshield.
I have 1600 miles on my car now. Filled up 3 times with no issues. Then the 4th time I had the issue show up on the same exact pump I used 2 other times (the station closest to my house). More testing to come, while we wait on the "Engineers" to get it right.
