Default Opinions of the 2006/7 GT500

I dunno...I'm not really impressed. Has a few subtle changes from the GT model. Impressive looking engine though. I'm not sure if it's fast enough for the estimate $40k(+/-). I mean lets say it goes 0-60 in 4.5. Is it really worth to pay almost double for another half of a second and an almost identical body? Well, I'll be sticking with my '05 GT(granted I get it by summer and don't get my order cancelled). Maybe it was all hte hype that they built up that I was expecting more.

But I just wanna say they still did a good job, my opinion of it might be different if I didn't hear rumors that the GT500 was going to be in the 40k range.

LONG LIVE THE MUSTANG!

My dealer (owner, not sales guy) tells me to expect more like 80k for the Shelby.

80k !!!!!
For that money I can have a Z06 ...AND a Mustang GT...well maybe only a Mustang V6.

I actually have a question with them calling it a GT500. A 5.4 is not a big block. Wouldn't it be more historically correct if it was named a GT350.

No it's not 80k. You dealer must be thinking about the Ford Cobra which is different than the Mustang GT500. The Ford Cobra is supposed to fetch probably about 80k.

I think the car is a nice evolution of the basic GT.

1. Really like the new instrument panel better, tach much easier to see
2. The 19" wheels look very good I was suprised.
3. I love the new rear fascia
4. The Snake logo on steering wheel, and trim badges are outstanding.
5. as for the hood, hmmm still thinking about it.
6. I really like the several views of the rear of the car.

I'm confused... they estimate the SVT Cobra (500?) to $40K, I've seen estimates for the Shelby GT 500E (E for Eleanor?) at up to $150K built on a -67 or -68...

I think SVT built the first one and Shelby with Unique Performance the second one. But Shelby is promoting both...?? Right??

My dealer however also estimated the new SVT between $65-80K, and said it would have two seats... some sort of C05 beater.... 40K and four seats is better whit me!

It's built on the 05 but they have been talking about deliveries in 2007, when is it?

For 40K you can do sub 4's 0-60 in your GT! Differance is warranty! If I do all that I want to my car it will end up beeing about $34K, over 500 HPs, awesome handling and braking... But I got A-plan and am getting a deal on parts and work...

In my opinion, the biggest aesthetic improvement in the car is moving the foglights from the grill area to the lower fascia. Not all that crazy about the foglights in the GT.

Actually, what I'd really like to see is a GT with foglights as an option (I'd delete) and the front turn signals that are moved to the lower fascia where the GT500's foglights are placed. Now THAT would be the perfect Mustang! :thumbsup

My guess would be between 42 and 48k saleen with a supercharger is 48k

steeda with a supercharger $46,500 i think svt will try to keep under 50K i could be wrong
now dealers will want 10k over sticker no x plan on that car and now that carroll shelby is back and signs the dash i bet it will be a very limited edition maybe a total of 20,000 cars will wait and see! I also have been told that there are more gt rag tops at the dealer lots right now than coupes go figure!

I was a bit disapointed.Maybe my expectations were a bit to high......It's dif then I had excpected it to be...........I donno ........I love the front facia and the hood........and that chin spoiler.I guess I was hopeing for the classic rear Shelby long tail lites and the Intake scoops that complete the overall look of the Shelby design.....But hey they brought back the Shelby.

It's a beautiful car.........it's suppose to start around 39,500.Think dealers may have other prices in mind ............and who knows, maybe a few things will change before actual production.

Dear Ford, please stop using shitty electrical tape on the wiring harness. Signed, customer who is tired of corroding wiring harnesses. You can see in some of those close ups, the typical Ford hack-job with electrical tape. Funny.

I love the car's look, but I'd definitely like to see a black/white and sonic blue/white model in person. I'm putting off the '05 GT order for one of these now, assuming I can find a dealer where it will be available.

BTW, where can you get +450 HPs for $40K? Stock, under warranty? I can't come up with one...

The 'real' Shelby Cobra will be at least 500 HPs (maybe with a 10) and two seats I've been told...?? Correct? Now that would be a GM lunch money plocking thing!

Default $40K Real Tempting--$80K No Way

I was afraid of this--a GT500 that would make me waiver from my plan to buy a nice used Porsche 911 (probably a 1996). For $40k, or thereabouts, it will be the Mustang--for $80k it will be the Porsche--and a nice '57 Nomad to boot.

All kidding aside--that's a great looking car that really performs--I want one.
