I have never used the Diablo but think it is a bit more user friendly... especially regarding available tunes on-line...??
With that said me and most 'professionals' use SCT because they are better, touch more perimeters, is more exact, and goes a bit deeper...
You can EASILY put on a CAI at home and the basic tune from SCT or Diablo. Even with no mechanical skills you would do it in 1-2 hours, maybe less!
The intake sound is not loud, especially not at idle and normal driving. Plus 3000 RPM, when on it, there is this nasty, lovely intake GROWL that we all LOVE! Still not loud just powerfull! Anybody can put on straight pipes (look at the ricers) but for that sound you need displacement and power!

I went to the sites posted in here and Brenspeeds was the easiest to order from at first glance. It has the kit together right there to order. So i did. Its on its way i hope. Seeing as my Info Center says my average speed is 31 MPH i dont know why i had to "pony" up the cash and get it. Yet i still got a ticket last Tuesday for 79 in a 55.
Ford has their cold air and tune package out and they state 20 RWHP with a 93 tune. Seems low but i would think, because they are Ford, its not as hot a tune as some aftermarket ones.

C & L has come out with a new cold air intake kit, that I really like. It seems to be producing the best results than the other cold air intake kits, on the market, for the 05 Mustang GT. However, for whatever reason, C & L has teamed up with Diablosport, and they have produced a new setting on Diablosport's 'Predator,' to give the best tune to the cars computer to allow the most amount of air that will be sucked in to the engine from this new cold air intake kit. I have not heard that many good things about Diablo, when compared to Superchips's Xcalibrator. I was going to buy the Xcalibrator when I read that C & L has got Diablo to produce a specially calibrated tune for the new cold air intake kit. Can I get the best tune with Diablo, as I can get with the Xcalibrator, or can I get the Xcalibrator, and still get the maximum performance out of C & L's kit, without running my engine lean?
superchip really don't have there progamer completed yet so i would stay away from them for a bit
Superchip as in Super Chip Tuning / SCT? They do most sertainly have their tuner together! It's called the X-Calibrator and X-Calibrator-2... works real well! For me and 1000's more, racers and cruisers alike! http://www.sctflash.com/main.php

'05 GT: C&L CAI, SCT XCalibrator 2 (tunes by bamachips.com), Steeda Tri-Ax Shifter, Ford Racing Handling Pack: Sway bars, springs, dampers and strut tower brace
I'm new to Mustangs and the forum. I picked up my 06 GT yesterday (satin silver premium, 5-spd, 18" polished mags). I've checked brenspeed for the C&L intake with the XCAL-2 tuner. I see it comes with 3 tunes. Are those the standard tunes for 87, 91 and 93 octane? Do I need a "custom" tune from Brenspeed for the C&L intake? I'm not a racer. Just need a little more power and response. I've seen some CAIs (K&N, Airaid)that boast "no tune required", and figured no tune means no gain.
Any thoughts on axle-backs? I was thinking Ford Racing with the Borla Stinger mufflers. Anyone know why the Ford Racing ones cost so much less than the comparable Borlas?
I've been driving F150s for 20 years. My last car was a 76 Volare. This Mustang is something else, shoulda done it years ago.
The tunes you need will be in the tuner, it is all inkluded in them (air/fuel for the new intake, throttle lagg removal, etc. Also auto shift points can be added if you have an auto.) Yes, the three tunes are for 87, 89, and 93+ oct.
A true custom tune is done with your car on a dyno hooked up to a data logger by a sk tuner. It is not neccessary for just adding a CAI. There might be another two HP there that could be taken out with a custom tune. The reason is that the canned tunes (like the one you get with your CAI / Tuner) are safe, hence are a bit fat, rich on gas.... Worth $120...?? Don't think so...
The axle-backs do 'nothing' for power, maybe a couple HP... most get them for the sound and looks. The Borlas are very popular. The FRPP ones are made by Borla and pretty much the same... no idea why they're less... maybe a cheaper SS? MAybe just by volume of sales?
Regards,

KJ,
Thanks for the info. Been out riding in the Stang, instead of checking back on the forum.
I ordered the C&L and tuner from Brenspeed. Based on what your reply, I don't need the custom tune.
I'll do the axle-backs later, when the budget permits. I know they don't add power, but they do sound sweet. Neighbors won't mind...won't be as loud as the pipes on the bike.
Thanks, but I'll pass on the JBAs. Gonna look at those Borlas and FRPPs. The Borlas look alot better on their web site. FRPPs may be a cheaper SS, 40 something instead of 304.
