Default Wheel Cover Kit

What's the secret in removing the center cap from the center ring? I want to install the new wheel cover kit with the Mustang emblem, but can't get the old center cap to give up that spot.
Thanks,
Oldgrinder,
2005 Black GT.Mustang.

i also tryed to get my center cap off when i ordered my spinners...i would have scratched the hell out of my rims if i would have continued so i just took the wheels off and they pushed out from the backside easily...it was a little more effort but well worth it...jerry

Default Pony Center Caps

Can anyone tell me if the Pony Center Caps from the Ford Accessories catalog (page 6, item 11) will the the GT's optional polished aluminum wheels? The upgraded polished aluminum wheels have the recessed inverted dish 'Ford Oval'. I had purchased a set of these center caps but couldn't get the Ford oval caps out without risking significant damage to the wheels and I wasn't about to take the wheels off. The thing I was concerned about was that it looked like they wouldn't fit the opening. I was thinking that these caps are made for the 'bullet-style' wheels (page 6, items 6,7,& 8) and nothing else?

So in the end, I took them back and got my money back. Am I right?

If your talking about the center cap with the 5 lug holes on the optional GT wheels the spinners would not fit because the optional center cap is all one piece.

No, I'm just trying to confirm that the Pony emblem center caps (not the spinners) referenced in the Ford Accessories Catalog on page 6 item 11) will not work with the GT's optional polished aluminum wheels. O5Retro, are you saying that the 'Ford Oval' center cap on the GT's optional wheels are an integral part to the wheel?

On the optlional wheel which I had on my car the center cap is molded as one piece with the Ford emblem glued in. These are the wheels I had on the car ,are they the ones you are talking about.
