Ok, after seeing your tint, i called a tinting place that uses the same brand as yours. they said they didnt hear of the scratch problem. Although he thought the mustangs have felt. did ford switch to plastic this year or something? they also recommended the smoke color instead of the performance. they also recommended 20%, even though the legal limit in SD is 35. He also said the cops coming in get the 20% lol.

I've read elsewhere that in Kalifornia, NO TINT is legal on the front windows (or maybe it was all windows??) The Llumar Performance Tint is guaranteed not to fade as it's made without any dyes. I plan on keeping this car for a long time, so the Performance tint seemed like the right call.

I try to work with officers that are working with me. If they aren't going to 'document' my tint, I'm sure as hell not going to provoke them. Even if they are going to document it, it's my issue. I picked the 30% tint, not the police.

I'm not going to say how long it's been since i've been pulled over because that'll get me some attention the next time I get in the car, but I try to avoid behaviour that draws attention to me.

My tint was scratched all to hell. My tintin guy just re-did my driver and passenger window today and tonight I plan on pulling door panels and removeing the inner seal all together.

I don't think a felt strip will stay stuck to the rubber seal. . . might as well yank the sucker out all together.
Was the rubber seal at the top of the door the only area that caused a problem? If so, I can probably manage that. My tinter told me they've come a long way with the clear plastic on the inside in terms of scratch resistance. Llumar from all accounts is top-shelf film. I had it on my 04 Maxima and never saw a scratch. He did say that metal dragged across that film will definitely scratch it.

About that dealer logo.. why wait till it gets warmer? Use a blow dryer and turn to heat.. Heat it up and it peels right off, no problem!:thumbsup

my car looks just like that (minus the cool tint) but my dealer ordered it with spoiler delete (which was just one of the many things I didnt NOT put on the order form, i got auto tranny, no int upgrade and all this other crap, but anyways). They said they it would cost me to get the spoiler. I told them that they could either put it on for free or I was going to buy a mustang somewhere else (sure enough they're putting it on free). I think I'm going to get my windows tinted now. I like the way that looks, and maybe it will be a little cooler/dimmer since im under that hot texas sun

I had the Ford Dealership do my window tinting. It was a little more expensive but I figured it was worth it. There are other places out there and most will offer you a lifetime guarantee but only if they are in business. I figure that Ford will probably be around for a while. (Lately the stock doesn’t reflect that.)

I went with what was legal here in Texas. 35 on the driver/passenger windows is law. Then I went 20 on the small side windows and 5 (limo) on the back window. You can still see the cool middle-aged dude driving but don’t need to change the rear view mirror for nighttime headlights from behind. The dark back window is nice for the hot Texas sun.

LOL Illinois state trooper pulled us over for tinted windows, he was in an unmarked Mustang at that.
He was cool, gave me option to take tint off right there and get a warning.
That is what I did. It was cheaper to retint than the actual ticket.

I have had many mustang owners write me about their tint being scratched. I decided to add your cars to my list and built a non scratch window tint kit for you.

I worked with my supplier to build a specially designed felt (moleskin) for this purpose. It will perform and hold up MUCH better than the generic mole skin that is not designed for the heat and humidity of a car door environment.

Let me know how you like it!

Keep your window tint from scratching!
Specifically designed for this application.

XXP - I'm also in the Columbus area, where did you have your windows tinted?? I used Ziebart and maybe I shouldn't have, but they've done all of my other vehicles. I'm having to install felt now and will need to go back to have them retinted due to scratches...

xxp..have you picked out a company to do your stripping yet? I'm sure Columbus has some good ones to choose from, but if you're still looking, may I recommend a company called Yipes Graphics in Englewood, OH. just west of Dayton Airport. http://www.yipesgraphics.com/ They did my stripping a few months back and Todd, their primary strip tech, has over 14 years experience doing all sorts of stripping on all sorts of vehicles, boats, etc...and does in most cases one of a kind stripping or at least does something unique with each job. My GT was the first by him to have the rocker panels with GT300 and only the 2nd he's done with the hash stripes on the hood. Todd did excellent work and the finer details were worth the $$. He wraps all the stripping under the hood, fenders, cuts around the GT emblem in the back, takes off the 3rd brake light so to tuck under, etc...very professional job. Just thought I'd mention. My Gallery has pictures of the car from all sides.

I have an 06' Black GT, interior upgrade, Red Leather, 5 Speed Stick. I love this car but my tint started scratching and the tint place said they would retint for free but it would come back. Sure enough it did. I bought a moleskin and put that on tonight. Friday it goes in for the third time. I hope this does the trick.
