I took my car to the tint shop yesterday and the first thing the tech said was that the way the window channel is designed, it will be prone to scratching when dirt accumulates and then you raise and lower the windows. He suggested to either:
1. Always leave the windows up.
2. Taking a damp cloth and cleaning the soft rubber/vinyl on the inside of the channel regularly. This will remove most of the dirt that will accumulate.
Have you had anyone tell you this? Any one else having this problem?
I to have nice lines going up and down my tint. I wonder since the dealer installed the tint before I got the car if they would cover and replace the tint?

Yup, mine is tore all to hell too. Luckily my installer agreed to redo the driver and passenger windows. ON tues he will be attaching a piece of felt to my inner seals. Hopefully that works and I can report back with good news.

Mine scratched right in front where you look out on the drivers side rear view mirror, beats not being tinted though! So I don't have to talk to all the people that try and stop me! "Is that the new Mustang?" "Do you like it?" "Is it fast?" LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!

LOL Richey, getting gas this morning, young kid pumping it,I see him wandering around the car for a few minutes, and this is the big question he asks me..."Do you like it?" No, I hate it, I just threw down almost 30 grand on a car I hate,at LEAST have good questions...Best guy I talked to,he looked homeless,on a 10 speed that was lousy the day it was built,he caught me at dunkin donuts, he said "wow, they kept the roofline and the fender flares from the old one huh?" now THAT'S a question I can work with! We shot it for a few minutes....
You're a celebrity now, comes with the territory, just like the Hollywood movie stars, get used to it I get this all the time but instead of your approach I like to have fun with it so I tell them "Yup, sure do. I guess you want my autograph now too, eh? Got a pen?" - The odd thing is that they don't know me from Adam but they assume that I must be some kind of a celebrity so they almost always say "Sure!" and then I sign my name (a worthless signature) and off they go grinning ear to ear. I've done this twice now for 2 separate teenagers who stopped me at the convenience store. It's so funny!
As for the tinted windows, my dealership sub-contracts that out to a guy locally who I talked to about the potential scratches prior to installation (thanks to this forum website) and he knew exactly what was causing it and how to prevent it from happening (he had already done 23 Stangs ahead of me). I've had the ride now for almost a month and don't have a single scratch on the tint. Make sure you tell them exactly what you DON'T want before the install and ask what they plan to do to prevent it and how many 2005 Stangs they've done so far.

S what exactly needs to be done to prevent this scratching? My Stang will be here soon and tint is first on the list.
I have had many mustang owners write me about their tint being scratched. I decided to add your cars to my list and built a non scratch window tint kit for you.
I worked with my supplier to build a specially designed felt (moleskin) for this purpose. It will perform and hold up MUCH better than the generic mole skin that is not designed for the heat and humidity of a car door environment.
Let me know how you like it!
Keep your window tint from scratching!
Specifically designed for this application.
Hey, when it's two hot Korean babes in a Mercedes asking me "if that's the new Mustang" I roll down the @#^%@# windows!!!
If my wife knew about that one, she would have made me sell it!
